Corporate capture of media & political parties are so bad in the United States that politicians across the spectrum are mostly terrified from advocating for the causes that are actually popular because their staff constantly whisper that they need to triangulate with extreme right-wing ideas

68% of voters want the US to take ambitious action on climate change!
Respondents were asked to choose between two statements related to the U.S.’s role in global climate leadership, with a bipartisan majority (68%) selecting the following statement: “The United States should take ambitious action to address climate change, even if other countries do not. We should lead the world on this issue and set the example for other countries to follow suit.”

In contrast, just 25% of voters prefer the following statement: “If other countries do not take action to address climate change, the United States should not either. It is not fair for us to act while other countries contributing to the problem are sitting still.”

Despite political polarization reaching a historic high in recent years, Americans aren’t divided on ensuring clean air and water for every community. As the U.S. celebrates Earth Day, many Americans say the holiday holds personal importance and want the U.S. to prioritize clean air and water for all and take ambitious action on climate change.

A tornado is a tornado, but objectivity is a slippery concept. The Weather Network gets a pass because it mostly deals in raw facts. But even meteorologists mention climate change—which could explain the 12 percent of viewers who still don’t trust them. ow.ly/H0nV50ZSWMR

I think a serious problem with the tech industry today is that they're too behaviourist in their idea of people's minds & too reductionist. It's as if they only conceive of art & entertainment as producing stimuli to keep our brains active. So any old slop does the job
