One of the most interesting debates in current international security is the degree to which we’re reliant on undersea cables and the degree to which these aren’t at all protected! I spoke to @katjabego.bsky.social about her excellent new book on the subject. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/b...

Can you imagine the derisory coverage and outright mockery if any other party with single-digit MPs decided to "declare a General Election" and go on a bus tour? Yet when this outlandish nonsense comes from Farage, it is treated as somehow brilliant. "Subscribe to continue..." No thanks. I'm good.

Counter-argument: This is awful. Lego used to be a £20 box of bricks and no rules, to let a kid's imagination run riot. Then smash it and start again. Now it's a £140 kit to make one thing that happened before the kid was even born. Then put it on a shelf and dust it. Go shit in your hat, Lego.

"Yemen's internationally recognised government" is a fiction. It doesn't govern Yemen, it isn't a government and, increasingly, it lacks any international credibility. I have no idea why it continues to be described in this misleading way.

*extremely tired voice*AI agents don't "go rogue". They are not sentient; they don't have agency. They work within guardrails set by humans. If the humans are so shit at building secure sandboxes for the agents to work within, that's on the humans. Stop using this framing.

Yes, there are technical, formal legal reasons why terrorism law is applied to protesters carrying placards, but not to political activists slashing boats. But stepping back, there is something wrong with a legal regime which criminalises one more than the other. A triumph of form over function.
