You’re welcome Paul. Plangent in the sense that isn’t loud or showily sonorous but is of an equal if not greater resonance in its quiet precision, melancholy in the best sense

Work Stroll: A blue chest of draws at attention with its chest out to draw attention. Cemetery Oak trees await impact of sticks to dislodge their conker cases. Squirrels pounce gingerly as if the ground of graves too hot for their feet.

For @emteepoetry.bsky.social Emily and her marvellous #primptcombo #Winged a sonnet from my forthcoming collection "Miner Wattas":
Southern Iron Blue (a rare mayfly found in Cawthorne Dike)

this flat hardness, far from death and plunder.
I came from the flow Under into flow
Above.
I scraped hardnesses for food in the Under.
In the Above I have no mouth. Enough!

Avoiding massive mouths I rise in light.
I find my wings. My feet taste surfaces.
I clasp her from below. Both of us in flight.
She drops to the Under, then releases

our bairns, exhausted, collapses, flow takes her.
I starve to death, so how am I speaking now?
I am one of many voices of the river,
preserved. I do not know the why or how.

Know me in the riffles whose water changes
ever different ripples and exchanges.

Hi @emteepoetry.bsky.social Emily. Here's my first in response to your excellent #promptcombo #Winged. Its from my collection "Hedgerow of Voices."Arrival of Redwings heralds autumn:
Redwing

You may not see me again in this place,
noshing on this bright juiciness that glints
a starlike pattern to our hungry pace
amongst this manmade feast's blazing red hints

added crunch in my beak of skitterers
below in harsh gust, pelting fall of wet
and snow. Alive to slightest twitch feather
of shadow or tick of twig or leaf fret.

When your warm arrives we flit fast up North
to have our bairns, teach them to fly, how we read the patterns in the blue and bright forth
of flashes in the dark Overness. We

may bring them to your wild patterns, of blue
and specks in the black Overness, to you.

For @thebrokenspine.co.uk #zpoemsAbout #Rot
Fresh Rots Soonest,

canned, salted, frozen lasts
Longest.

We are fresh with one another
grow mold and decay over each other.

We can one another,
are salty or cold
and it keeps.

Gnaw the other down
to their wishbone,
That each holds in their little finger,
pull until it snaps.

I dedicate this to anyone facing difficult times today and wish everyone small wins or the honour of staying present with love and compassion throughout. May the protection and courage of a thousand seagulls carry you all forwards like feathers on a wing 🕊️ ✌️ ✨ #ECK #photography #hope #sunsets
A seagulls feather is planted in the sand, a conduit from the sky to earth, representing the journey of all that in between.

The sun blazes behind the tip of the feather, illuminating its delicate form. Pieces of stranded seaweed scattered and a medium sized rock sits to the left of the feather on sand that glows golden in the setting sun.

The waves and shoreline run along the centre of the image below a golden and blue sky peppered with puffy clouds and lines of cirrus cloud.

It is National Poetry Day, I love this year's theme! To celebrate, I am going to share some poetry collections I've enjoyed working on. First up, Hedgerow of Voices by @thewombwellrainbow.bsky.social DM Paul for a signed copy, or £5.99: amzn.eu/d/06M3wEuF #NationalPoetryDay #poetrycommunity
Paul's cover is a watercolour painting which features some of the 'voices' in his collection, including the gap in the hedge, the hare, a map showing the river Dove, and the North Star. I loved working on it.
