Black Rock sea-stack watches another roaring tide roll amidst a kaleidoscope of colours 🤩 #scape #ECK #photography #photographersofbluesky #sunsets
Black Rock sea-stack sits amongst tide pool reflections, mirroring the colours of the sunset veiled by rain heavy blue cumulus. A kaleidoscope of orange, yellows and blues silhouette pressed with the ancient sea-stack taking centre stage.

I dedicate this to anyone facing difficult times today and wish everyone small wins or the honour of staying present with love and compassion throughout. May the protection and courage of a thousand seagulls carry you all forwards like feathers on a wing 🕊️ ✌️ ✨ #ECK #photography #hope #sunsets
A seagulls feather is planted in the sand, a conduit from the sky to earth, representing the journey of all that in between.

The sun blazes behind the tip of the feather, illuminating its delicate form. Pieces of stranded seaweed scattered and a medium sized rock sits to the left of the feather on sand that glows golden in the setting sun.

The waves and shoreline run along the centre of the image below a golden and blue sky peppered with puffy clouds and lines of cirrus cloud.

Macro of a butterfly resting with its wings wide open flat on the bright yellow disk center of a wildflower. 17 Feb 2024. A visit to Ocean Beach in Kāwhia. It’s just after 8pm, and the sunset is stunningly uproarious as it paints the sky with buckets of colour. The black sand beach is a deep umber, and proof of earlier various recreational vehicles can be found in rows of tracks left behind. The Tasman is a deep blue. The wispy clouds are fantastic in their tones – peach, dark grey, off-white. The sun itself is half-sunk into a liquid horizon of dreams, and a mini reflection of orange can be seen in the shallows near the shore. From the larger orb, two arms reach and diagonally divide the frame from lower left to upper right. The smaller sphere tries to follow suit, managing one outstretched arm in solidarity. In the distance of the harbour on the left are rolling hills, dark and full of secrets.

In the image we see blue skies with a few white and grey clouds stretching across, with darker blue ones above the horizon, topped with puffy little grey cumulus with higher reaching white cirrus drawing diagonal broken lines.

On the right hand side the horizon and beach meet at cliffs edge where land feature reaches out midway from edge of frame, sloping off to shoreline.

The tide is receding and has left beautiful rivulets, filled with water reflecting the skies broken by rippling sands between.

Vibing on the beach tonight atmosphere felt delicious. Silky temperatures and the softest breeze carried us along the receding shoreline.

Spotted this rock from quite afar, its shiny texture had me wondering if it was something alive but up close I could see it was just a well positioned, smooth boulder enticing the waves and me with my camera.

A mixture of cool blues and calming greys contrasted a pastel yellow and peach as the sun was well and truly hidden beneath clouds that still lent a hug from the earth to anyone on present at the beach this evening. Waves swelling high also bid a warm welcome to plenty of surfers glad of the barrels and rolling white waters.

Where the Light Still Burns is a moody, atmospheric exploration of beauty emerging from darkness. Against a weathered landscape of charcoal, rust, and burnt umber, a radiant sphere of golden light breaks through the shadows, casting warmth across delicate, withered seedpods.
The fragile silhouettes reach into the fading glow, evoking resilience, impermanence, and the quiet persistence of life. The distressed textures and gilded fragments suggest a world shaped by time, loss, and transformation, a reminder that even in the deepest darkness, something within us continues to burn.

Morning #BlueSky ☕️ As usual for Sunday l have a capture with a poem l have written in the Alt. This week please enjoy: “The Quiet Within” Have a peaceful day friends 😌 #ECK #Stunday #ImageAndVerse #ColorADay #OrangeSun #Photography #PhotographyOfBlueSky #PhotographersOfBlueSky #BlueSkyPoems
After the picture description today, I have written a poem inspired by this capture.

Our photograph captures a peaceful sunset over a tranquil lake, framed beneath the sweeping branches of a large, mature tree.

The upper half of the image is dominated by the tree's dark, sprawling branches and delicate, hanging leaves, creating a natural canopy.

Beyond them, the setting sun glows warmly in shades of golden yellow and soft orange, surrounded by a sky tinged with muted pink and lavender.

The sun's reflection stretches across the gently rippling surface of the lake, forming a shimmering golden pathway that leads towards the viewer.

The water reflects the pastel colours of the evening sky, while the distant shoreline appears as a dark silhouette of trees and vegetation.

Near the water's edge, reeds and grasses rise from the shadows. A few small water birds can be seen floating across the lake, their movements creating subtle ripples in the otherwise still water.

The foreground consists of a dark, grassy bank scattered with fallen leaves, adding a sense of autumn and quiet natural beauty.

The picture feels intimate, sheltered, and deeply serene, as though the world has paused to breathe. And finally our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame. Now for my poem…

I call it…The Quiet Within

Beneath the shelter of ancient branches,
the evening asks nothing of me.

The sun lowers itself gently,
leaving gold upon the water,
and the lake holds every reflection
without needing to possess it.

A bird moves quietly across the surface.
A breeze brushes through the leaves.

There is no urgency here,
no destination demanding arrival.

Only the soft rhythm of ripples,
the warmth of fading light,
and the gentle reminder
that peace can be found
when we stop reaching
and simply allow ourselves
to be still.

I gift you all a wishing rock! Wearing band of quartz or calcite, its beauty formed over eons, to now be witnessed by the good people of #bluesky 🦋 Gift to others to grant good luck & wishes too! Ps: I didn’t make this up.. wishing rocks are actually a thing😊 #RockinTuesday #ECK #photography
A wishing rock - a rounded beach pebble with a ring of white quartz or calcite encircling its middle - sits atop a large boulder on the beach, also etched with minerals lines. These lines were formed millions of years ago when the stone was under immense pressure and heat near to tectonic plate boundaries.

Folklore has it that these stones can grant wishes and good luck and they’re often collecting and used in displays or for keepsakes, people would leave them at sacred sites or in rivers as offerings for blessings.

A hazy, yellow sun sets on the horizon in a cloud dappled sky.

A solitary figure walks where water meets the darkness of the shore, swallowed by fog and distance. The pale blues suggest fragility and fading hope, while the deep charcoal-black ground becomes a metaphor for the unknown. The fractured, layered textures echo an inner landscape: quiet, vast, and unresolved. Yet the figure keeps moving toward the horizon.
