I'm quite interested in how this decision was made. It sounds a lot like previous situations where decisions were being made by an inner circle of staff/council and the rest of council was kept in the dark.

At least you have red light cameras. In British Columbia, it is virtually impossible to get on installed because some moron in the early 2000s got caught cheating on his wife in a camera photo and sued the province over it. I can't make this shit up.

I would like to see an investigation so that the council can inform the public who made this decision, which committees and committee members were involved in those allocations and confirm for the public whether or not there are any conflicts of interest involved in this "diversion" of funds.

This is horrendous. For this city to not only lie about revenue, but to then give that money to the cops, who have an already bloated budget they don't need, is corruption. Plain and simple. I think more cameras need to be installed; let's build more bike lanes!

Critics were right that this was a cash grab and not about road safety. What’s worse is that the diversion of funds seems to have been done in secret from even councillors. What a clusterf*ck. And road speeds are being artificially lowered everywhere with many trap cameras springing up. $$$$
