A cluster of brown mushrooms. They have concave caps, revealing the lighter gills underneath. They are growing in woodland with dead leaves and pine needles on the ground, and illuminated by dappled sunlight

Sweetlips time! These are Ribboned Sweetlips (Plectorhinchus polytaenia, most numerous, thin yellow/black stripes), Oblique-banded Sweetlips (P. lineatus, with the bold black lines/spots) and Goldlined Sweetlips (P. chrysotaenia, with no black on them at all). #MarineLIfe 🐟🌿 #Wildlife

A mixed group of fishes, hanging out in relatively deep water (which is why it all looks a bit blue). They are mostly silvery with yellow fins and either yellow or black stripes (or both). They all have notably thick lips and large mouths. There are patches of reef and sand visible behind them.

A fish with a slightly greenish body and dark dorsal and caudal fins. The pectoral fins are red and pointed; there is an orange area at their base. The head is pointed with a relatively long snout. The fish is swimming upwards with a rock wall behind it.

A brownish fish, shading to black on its belly and yellow at the tip of its dorsal fin. It has two prominent white bands, one running from its throat to the front of the dorsal fin and the other from the base of the tai to the tip of the dorsal fin. It has a hump on its face above the eyes. The very high dorsal fin gives the whole fish a triangular shape.

The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.
Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars.
Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles.
But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.
This was the Captain Samuel Vimes 'Boots' theory of socioeconomic unfairness.
