Obviously I hope to be in NZ for the Lions next year. On topic, I missed the 1995 WC final (watched on video later), NZ were never going to lose. So I went to London Pride that day with my new gf, great day out. 30+ years later she’s now my wife and should be coming to NZ with me next year.

The law won't go this far but the language atm is completely fruit loops - every single Minecraft user needs to be age-assured, regardless of the context. Mojang would have to sell a SKU of the game with no license integration at all, solely via physical media, and no digital updates allowed.

(Not literally but basically: any game with any interaction with the internet at all either must be age-gated or totally anonymous. This includes any game that ever gets any update provided online).

Read through the EU Kids Act and it will need significant refining before it goes out, otherwise it essentially shuts down all video gaming later than the PS1 era, at least at a very aggressive reading.

PS DWP's own analysis shows that private pensions will not come to the rescue of younger workers. If the triple lock goes, it is what *would* have been their pensions which will be the 'savings.'
A chart from DWP showing the likely decline in private pensions over time.

(2/4) What the maths really shows is that ditching the triple lock will hurt the young far harder than the elderly, and will ensure that many of today's 20-year olds retire into poverty. 99-percent.org/condemning-y...

Humanists UK mourns Dame Esther Rantzen (1940–2026) Esther was a great champion of human dignity. She approached her final years with the same fearless determination that defined her career of advocacy, using her own experience to shine a light on the suffering caused by our outdated laws.

For a second week running, our video on a WXV game has been copyright claimed so all money is going to Sky NZ and it requires a VPN to watch in New Zealand, but hey, here's Will's look at the Red Roses v Black Ferns game from the weekend... youtu.be/rrFS1390kXM

The stats from England Women vs New Zealand are a thing to bring a tear to Shaun Edwards's eye. England, with 34% possession and 35% territory (per rugbypass stats) put in a massive defensive effort to restrict the Ferns to 19 points off 14 entries into the 22.

Morwenna Talling needs a old vide-printer style confirmation with 39 (THIRTY-NINE) tackles completed. An additional seven Roses completed 20+ tackles apiece. Despite a vast number of carries and post-contact metres, New Zealand managed only 7 line breaks.

ANOTHER ADD (for completeness) There were 3 years in the last 15 where inflation and earnings growth were below 2.5% so the triple lock kicked in, meaning the state pension grew by 2.5% when otherwise it would have increased by less

ADD @theifs.bsky.social have actually modelled what would have happened since 2010 if the new proposed system had been in place - as you can see, growth in the state pension would have been closer to growth in earnings over that time ifs.org.uk/articles/how...

...How would the Andy Burham proposal change this? It's complicated because the annual uprating formula would keep an arbitrary 2.5% floor. But probably the simplest way to think about it is that - over the longer term - growth in the state pension would be closer to growth in average earnings 5/5

...Put those together and the result is that over 15 years the triple lock has pushed up the state pension in cash terms by more than growth in average earnings and more than the increase in prices...4/5

Thinking about the impact of the triple lock on the state pension can be confusing as there's a number of interacting moving parts (earnings, inflation, 2.5%). 🤷‍♂️❓ But here's a visualisation that hopefully might help...1/5

Personally I see it is as the can kicked down the road, and I will pass the years waiting for a proper analysis of the impact, which I suspect is smaller than they suggest. Hopefully my kids will have a decent pension, the triple lock would help.

Another big one is teaching your son to see girls as equals. Instead of enrolling him in sex-segregated sports, introduce him to a co-ed team. And help him foster his more “feminine” interests where we can be in mixed-sex spaces, making mixed-sex friend groups.

What's fun about this whole contretemps and why it's worth watching again is how smirky Schmitt starts out - this is going to be his big moment – and how honest a puzzled Smith comes off, and how sharp Klobuchar was to quickly figure out the basic mistake. And then how pissy Schmitt gets at her.

Treating the triple lock issue as one of pensioners vs non-pensioners is silly identity politics. The qn is: how do we best prepare for our retirements, & should we sacrifice some of this preparation to pay for social care insurance? I need convincing.
