also another one of the reasons there is so much automated Yandex traffic is the same reason there is so much automated Amazon traffic here in the US: yandex sells cloud computing services, like AWS. the traffic gets attributed to yandex because it exits thru their internet hardware

I dislike being earnest, but the only answer I know of to the onslaught of dystopian and apocalyptic news is love. Foster a dog, plant some flowers, call up a friend you haven’t talked to in too long, try to be kind. This isn’t easy, it’s difficult—that’s the message of every religion I’m aware of.

In memory of Tim Curry, please enjoy "Tim Curry Visits the Mall," aka "That'll Give You, Er, Bees," aka "That'll Give You Bees," aka "OMGPONIES TIM CURRY." metaquotes.livejournal.com/5989568.html I hate this timeline. Someone needs to smash an amulet and release us from it. #thatllgiveyoubees
Screenshot of text reads:

Tim Curry visits the mall...
...and ame_chan had the good luck to be working in the store he visited.

Sort of.

I rush out of the office and notice "guy in a grey sweatsuit." and sorta "floomph" against the counter fanning myself with a piece of paper and say, "Wow. Ya ever have one of those days?"

And then the penny drops, OMGPONIES TIM CURRY IN MY STORE TIM CURRY OMG.

And he says, "OH indeed."

In that voice.

And I lose all power of thought and speech and I'm just, er, buh. Can't talk. Standing in the store, trying not to have a hyperventilating fangirl moment. Can't. Talk. Forget sampling balsamic vinegar or you know, actually selling to him. TO OMGTIMCURRY. Who TALKED to me. Tim Curry talked to me and he has Voice and I'll be in my bunk and.... *floppy arms* [Story continues in next screenshot.]

Source: https://metaquotes.livejournal.com/5989568.html[Story continued from previous image] Screenshot of text reads:

So he walks over to our display of honey body balms and other wonderful botanicals, and is examining them and I walk over to him, intending to say, "Ah, yes. These wonderful honey botanicals, so fragrant, made by nuns! When we uncap the bottles and spritz the store, they are so fragrant that bees fly into the store looking for the source of the smell. Reallywonderful stuff Mr. OMGPONIES Curry."

What came out of my mouth was, "That'll give you, er, bees."

"That'll GIVE YOU BEES." ya'll. I said. To OMGTIMCURRY. Bees.

He left the store rather rapidly. At which point, I walked behind the counter and sank onto my knees out of sight of the store and was muttering and laughing rather hysterically. Like ya do. After a horrible bee incident.

"BEES." *smacks head*

"FUckin BEES." *smack"

"TIM CURRY." *smack*

Absolutely astonishing story from Reuters, saying that Anthropic’s valuation is based on theoretical revenues of $180-200bn in 2028, and that its “current EBITDA does not fully capture the economics investors expect the company to achieve at scale.” Misleading! www.reuters.com/business/ant...
Summary
Companies
• Anthropic projects roughly $190 billion to $200 billion
2028 revenue, sources say
• Bankers and investors use enterprise value-to-revenue multiples based on forecasts, sources say
• Cloudlare, Palantir and SpaceX are reference points ahead of Anthropic analyst day, sources say
Aug 14 (Reuters) - As Anthropic prepares for what could be one of the biggest IPOs on record, Wall Street is looking further into the future than it commonly does to put a price on the Al company, valuing it based on how much revenue it could generate two years from now.
Anthropic is projecting 2028 revenue of roughly $190 billion to $200 billion, according to two people familiar with the company's financials, a figure that has not previously been reported. The projection dwarfs the $47 billion revenue "run rate," reflecting the firm's current pace of business, that the company publicized as recently as May, and shows the scale of growth investors are being asked to underwrite.LOOKING PAST CURRENT EARNINGS
Established companies are typically valued more heavily on earnings, or EBITDA, which gives investors a sense of the economics of the business.
For Anthropic, however, current EBITDA does not fully capture the economics investors expect the company to achieve at scale. Anthropic is spending enormous amounts on GPUs and other computing capacity, model training, inference and hiring. Those expenses are necessary to support its rapid expansion but could become a smaller percentage of revenue as the business
grows.
