Did you see Chrissi last week? A grandmother kinship carer in County Durham who spoke to #5News about stepping in to raise her 4 grandchildren & being forced to give up the job she loved. Our new research shows 6 in 10 kinship carers like Chrissi have to give up work or reduce their hours.

Local democracy is an odd mixture of elected councillors being the face of professional staff who do most of the real work. It’s been interesting to see how dedicated the staff (the officers) are. Then, with a change of administration, to see them respond so positively to new priorities.
