Today is Equal Pay Day, a day later than last year. It is the day to which women must work to earn the same as men did working to Dec 31 last year. Women earn 81 cents for every dollar men earn. Down from 83 cents a year ago, and 84 cents the year prior. www.npr.org/2026/03/26/n...

It's Equal Pay Day. Women have lost ground for the second year in a row
The annual observance marks how far into the new year women must work to make what men earned in the previous year. This year, it's March 26, a day later than it was in 2025.

On this day in 1989, an armed gunman murdered 14 women at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Another ten women and four men were injured. The anniversary of the massacre is commemorated annually on Dec. 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
A black granite memorial plaque features a circular arrangement of names in white text, bordered by silver rivets. At the top center is an emblem of a bee with gears. The text reads "in memoriam" followed by two columns of names: Geneviève Bergeron, Hélène Colgan, Nathalie Croteau, Barbara Daigneault, Anne-Marie Edward, Maud Haviernick, Maryse Laganière, Maryse Leclair, Anne-Marie Lemay, Sonia Pelletier, Michèle Richard, Annie St-Arneault, Annie Turcotte, Barbara Klucznik Widajewicz.
