And this is what worries me. There's a lot of shit these days which doesn't work because companies have become software-brained. Note: I'm not saying because the software is bad (though it often is), I'm saying "they're using software for things they shouldn't which degrades the product"

It is now trivial to produce incredibly powerful hardware that barely uses any energy. I now know I could do my entire workflow on a Macbook Neo with barely a sacrifice. That reality means these companies can no longer grow unless they come up with a reason to use lots of compute. Oh. Right.

I know this'll ruffle feathers but I agree with this Food/Water watch analysis. Diverting renewable energy away from fossil phase-out and climate adaptation and towards melting graphics card to power chatbots is the formal end of moral purpose for clean technology.
Data Centers With Renewables Aren’t the Answer
So all these power plants and “temporary” turbines are raising power prices and polluting our communities. Why don’t we just power data centers with renewables?

Many data center companies are pledging to (eventually) do just that. But even if these pledges weren’t just empty greenwashing promises, powering data centers with clean energy is utterly unrealistic. It also threatens the progress of our already dangerously slow energy transition.

Continuously powering a 1 GW data center would require nearly 20,000 acres of solar panels or 185,000 acres of onshore wind power. We cannot afford to waste the time, space, or money to build renewables for Big Tech’s profit machines.

Already, data center growth is outstripping available renewable energy supply and redirecting renewables from other industries. It’s drawing urgently needed renewables from existing technologies and resources. We need to focus our renewable energy resources toward thos

The fact alone that startups see an opportunity here when safe systems already exist should worry you that systems might get installed whose purpose is to pivot to more data collection once they have a large install base. I declined that project for ethical reasons because intent was quite clear.

First day of the new pricing model, I tried one prompt to just refine one of my existing change proposal, basically a conductor with few sub agents to update the existing change spec, architecture, test plan, prototype, tech spec and implementation plan.

Melexis Launches Automotive 18-Channel LIN RGB LED Controller
Melexis has launched the MLX81119, an 18-channel LIN RGB LED controller featuring an integrated DC/DC converter designed to simplify automotive lighting systems while reducing power losses, PCB space, and thermal challenges. The new device targets modern vehicle lighting applications such as dashboards, door panels, ambient lighting, and charge-port illumination, where growing electronic density is increasing design constraints. By generating the LED supply voltage directly on-chip, the MLX81119 eliminates the need for separate external DC/DC converters, significantly reducing component count and simplifying system layouts.

The cultural decline is in rejecting a technology which provides all these benefits. Sure, the benefits make themselves more clear when fuel costs are higher, but a culture which cannot imagine the benefits of lowering fuel costs even when their modest is very short-sighted.
