So, yeah, this is why #Claude Code gets a dedicated, principle-of-least-privilege user on my systems: ● Bash(command -v aws && aws configure list-profiles 2>&1 | head; ls ~/.aws 2>&1) ⎿  Error: Exit code 2 /snap/bin/aws ls: cannot access '/home/claude/.aws': No such file or directory

When do orgs start offloading annual reviews to #Claude and friends? These services are already monitoring a large percentage of peoples' day-to-day and are in a position (or will at least claim to be ...) to make a judgement about how peoples' time and tokens are being spent.

I've written a new blog post in my series on #DuckDB. This one explores DuckLake and uses its time-travel mechanism to (attempt to!) solve a mystery surrounding how bogus data got into a corporate database. peterdohertys.website/blog-posts/t... CC / @duckdb.org

I'm being ghosted by a number of recruiters and people I've interviewed with. I find myself in the twisted position of following up about gigs I don't even want! (e.g. #AI slop cannon operator) just to find out the _WHY_ of it and/or to get *some* closure. 😵 #freelance #python #webdev #unemployment

I just added the first non-trivial feature to my #hakyll blog for the first time in many years. Using tags, I wanted to conditionally render a partial (links to posts in series) into the standard blog post template. For example, my series on #duckdb. It took some fiddling but I did get it working!

I don't understand how pols continually add me to their #Substack newsletters without my permission. What's even more curious is that I've have to jump through hoops (e.g. email verification) to successfully sign up for the Substack newsletters (I know it's bad) that I am legitimately interested in.

So, like, are there any *regular* #SWE or #DevOps jobs left? Lately, almost every post I've seen and lead I've been given have been for what I've begun calling "Loop Cowboy" positions (i.e. people using "agentic harnesses" to generate mountains of code they'll never bother trying to understand).
