Stuff like this is why the Canadian political establishment is (correctly, IMO) assuming that Democrats can NOT be trusted to return the bilateral relationship to the status quo ante going forward.

“Charged with crimes” Anyone can be charged of any crime irrespective of its actually real because being charged is just an accusation. It is a bill that gives the state a free pass to go after any immigrant for any reason they can fabricate.

In Chrysta Freeland's new book she states that Howard Lutnick threatened to invade Canada "by sundown" over Doug Ford's electricity surcharge. The fact that US trade negotiators put military threat on the table must be taken with the upmost seriousness. charlieangus.substack.com/p/they-threa...

Did you know businesses with federal govt contracts aren’t allowed to spend for or against federal candidates? How then has Elon Musk, whose companies get billions in contracts, spent hundreds of millions in our elections? The answer: A giant loophole I'm working to close.

Limiting homes where Edmontonians want to live, close to their jobs, schools and family, will erode Edmonton's affordability advantage.

"AI" is just software, man. What the fuck are we doing. Sometimes it outputs JPGs, sometimes it can output text. It's just software though in the end, and the gguf or whatever is just a layer in that software stack. No, it's definitely not conscious.

What does “AI” mean in the first place, RE: the question of consciousness? The service? A model alone? A particular model on a particular service like Bedrock or GCP? What about Qwen 3.8 on my laptop? Any particular quants?

Musk advocating for Quebec separatism then following it up by saying Alberta & Saskatchewan should leave too gives away this is just about dissolving Canada for being lib, but I'm glad he's too dumb to realize it undermines separatists' chances by further associating them with right-wing Americanism

Big cities must do better to fix the housing crisis. We have a severe shortage of homes, yet cities like Vancouver continue to block apartments across most residential areas, driving up the cost of market and non-market homes alike. New from me in the Vancouver Sun vancouversun.com/opinion/op-e...

Opinion: B.C.’s big cities must do better to fix the housing crisis
Cities too often use their powers to restrict housing or make it too expensive to build while forcing new housing onto noisy main roads

I don't think LLMs need a new way to discuss them. They're just a really neat component of software; when we look at OpenAI's hacks, really they boil down to "OpenAI let their software run autonomously and negligently, and never tried to see what it was doing".
