100%. For those unfamiliar, Van Halen had a line in their rider that essentially said “no brown M&Ms.” It was a way to see if the promoter had actually read the contract. They had a shitload of gear to tour with, so if they’re skipping one thing, it’s guaranteed they’re skipping something essential.

What the "no uncomfortable media ever" folks don't seem to want to acknowledge is that for some of us, stories depicting violence and suffering are about feeling seen as fellow survivors, and (in most stories) also seeing that these things can be overcome, even if they can't be eradicated.

The idea of AI detectors deciding prose is AI or not based on a single punctuation mark is as horrifying as it is ridiculous. And yet. Also: I have to say, if you read enough AI prose, you RECOGNIZE it. You don't need the software. I've been getting so many AI samples into my inbox, & it's clear.
