Honestly don’t know how we continue functioning as a society with such a small number of people vacuuming up this much wealth. Basically the equivalent of the US defense budget was rerouted to 500 people in just the last nine months.

Best part of this muddled article by one of Bloomberg's money guys is that two of the charts make a compelling case that knee-jerk opposition to AI is wholly justified because technological progress doesn't increase productivity, it just enables greater income extraction by capital. Oops!

consciousness is the individualization of the oneness of all things (we are all literally made of the same thing in a slightly tweaked order and that change casts a COSMIC shadow). we are all the same yet the world is so violent (always has been). It's all grand contradictions. gotta just liv w/it

The problem isn’t that they’re moving past it—it’s that they’re trying to rehabilitate it. Would be better for everyone if people who don’t want to engage with the facts just talked about the play on the field and left it at that.

There are reasons other than net take-home pay that generations of American parents steered their kids toward college. I don't see how "go into construction!" is helpful unless paired with more robust worker protections and a true safety net, especially in right to work states.

XKCD where one person says "I've found a way to turn a 52-card deck into 53 cards by shuffling and rearranging them."

First person says "How do you know?! I challenge you to find an error in my math!"

At @flaminghydra.com @raxkingisdead.bsky.social has a valuable perspective the Cornell rape case, and on the part of misogyny that happens between men flaminghydra.com/issue-659/
I wasn’t afraid these two men on the pedestrian bridge would assault me. When they believed I was out of earshot, I knew they’d whisper. They might laugh about what they’d just seen jiggling up the ramp to pass between them. Those were the things I would hear (and, eventually, did hear). The rest has always been mysterious to me. Might one of them make too lewd or sexist of a comment, and might the other let it pass, express no disgust, say nothing instead of shutting down the exchange? I’ve seen that happen many times among other men. If they were cowards when I could see and hear them, what were they like when I couldn’t?

It seems insane to me that they just let people handle raw meat (dangerous) in a restaurant. Then again you can just buy it in the store and cook it at home. I wear gloves when cooking raw meat at home and also have a jug of hand wash at the ready lol. Maybe I’m neurotic about it.
