The image is of a four panel comic. The title reads "Poltergeist".
In the first panel we see a woman with a worried expression on her face. She says, "stuff keeps moving around my house."
In the second panel the same woman says "I'm terrified. I can't sleep."
In the third panel we see a ghost holding a candle and a pillow that reads "live laugh love". The ghost is zooming through the house.
In the fourth panel we see the same ghost hanging up a frame and thinking, "home decor is my passion".

I think it is evidence of how so much we have been made to think that gaining an audience is the goal of life in this attention-seeking economy that saying "a rapist shouldn't seek a public persona that is available for consumption" is taken as equivalent to saying they "can never rejoin society."

This is a photo of some rocks and sand. It was taken earlier today, with a camera 247,000,000 km away. It was taken on Mars. And now you're looking at it on your screen.
Dusty, red rocks, and red soil. Darker soil in the middle of the image marks where one of the rocks has been displaced.

It would be indulgent and silly to commission an artist for an illustration of one of the MCs in the book I'm working on just for inspiration/motivation, right? I happened across an artist who I thought would do the character justice and am sorely tempted.

The term “remigration” is associated with the extreme right and only came into widespread usage in 2023-4. Even Germany’s AfD avoided using the term in 2024 for fear of scaring away voters. Today the US government is celebrating the “victories” it’s racked up in the “ethnic cleansing” column.

It's so incredibly systemic and it's been a known problem for at least 30 years. *flips tables*
Screenshot: Key takeaways
Doctors are paid less for gynecologic surgeries than for similar surgeries on men. That pay gap has barely improved in the last 20 years.
The value of each procedure is largely set by a committee of doctors that relies on self-reported, and sometimes inaccurate, surveys in which doctors report the skill and time their own procedures require.
When doctors are paid less to treat women’s health concerns, hospitals allocate fewer resources to those services, leading to worse outcomes for women
Experts say the gap can be closed by reconsidering how gynecologic surgeries are valued and removing sex-specific billing codes.
That term, which has since entered the medical literature, stuck because the problem it describes has been well documented for decades. In 1997, a group of gynecologic surgeons published a paper in the journal Gynecologic Oncology with a title that gets straight to it — “Is Adam worth more than Eve?” Dr. Barbara A. Goff, now chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Washington Medicine, and colleagues found that doctors are paid around 44 percent more for performing male-specific procedures than analogous female-specific ones.

I love this seemingly-left-field attack: "if they're conscious, you're building slaves. I don't think they're conscious, so I'm not worried, but if you *do*, you should be fighting this" is brilliant.
A screenshot from the article: '"I think you should be fighting the South and freeing the slaves," Rabbi Navon said he told Mr. Olah that night. Afterward the rabbi sent Mr. Olah some of his writings, arguing that building conscious machines should be banned.'

For people running events to fail disabled attendees year after year isn't just an oversight. It's discrimination. It doesn't matter that different groups organise it every year. They're using the event name/branding and so should be improving on previous years. The organisers should be ashamed.
