Feels like not enough people are aware of how fully cooked the internal combustion engine is. My mum's old diesel Honda currently costs £120 to fill up, on which it'll do just under 300 miles. My sister's EV costs £6 for a full charge which will take her 280 miles.

Ed Davey is the least of the problems of a party whose internal leadership is built on a foundation of "a few more strongly worded leaflets will do it" with the main opposition "have we considered looking at voters turned away from the Tories?". Without that change the leader means little

Do we really need to explain to people that it is really, REALLY important to read to young children? Like, you, personally, need to read to your child - your voice, your face, your hand gestures, your lap, your arms, your closeness. What kind of parent doesn't know this in their bones?

It just boggles my mind that an American state has been in North Korean missile range since the late 90s, with very public reminders, and no one treats it like a big deal except that increasing missile range might “threaten the US mainland.” Great, awesome. We’re definitely not treated as a colony.

There is a bleak sort of pleasure in telling people who bring up AI in casual conversation, “Actually, I’m one of the authors AI stole from. Not an exaggeration. The judge ordered them to send me a check.” It hits them different when it’s a real person saying it.

It is important that the German Greens directly reject the UK Green Party’s resolution titled "Zionism is Racism" and welcome the suspension of its voting rights within the European Green Party. It‘s urgently necessary for the @europeangreens.eu to distance itself from the UK Green Party’s position.

Green Party conference just voted in favour of this motion, and this time, in the hall itself, specifically voted against an amendment which would have removed the element about “Zionist Synagogues”. As a result, for most Jews the Green Party will now be considered to have a policy of antisemitism.

I lost friends over antisemitism in Labour. I tried to argue that the fact that people on the right were trying to use antisemitism as a weapon against Labour (and they were, in bad faith) did not mean that antisemitism did not exist in Labour (it did). This argument still echoes.

Iirc it was in 2017 after you had attended a Conference Event (Young Liberals?) when someone said "[You] feels like a Lib Dem who just would never stoop so low as to identify as such" which was met with general agreement in the bar. So I guess that "We accept you one of us" holds still?
