It only ever wants to do one thing: write a story about the little guy that it's been trained to write a story about. That guy says a bunch of things that look like the kind of things that someone trying to pursue the assigned goal would say. That is distinct from pursuing the goal.

With LLMs now this should be even easier. But I just don't see a lot of hunger for that type of large scale qual data.

Way back in ancient history (~5 yrs ago) I worked with Microsoft to automate their usability benchmarking for Windows web browsers. We collected data from real humans, but the testing platform was virtualized and the sessions unmoderated, so we could scale up to 100s of participants per study.

Is anybody working in UXR successfully automating their qual research pipeline? I keep seeing articles about test cases and proofs of concept, but nobody talking about actually taking it into production. I am wondering if that's because there isn't real demand for qual-at-scale.

i once asked an older greek anarchist how it is that greek protestors go so hard and he said that having overthrown a fascist regime in living memory, everyone knows what the cops are and whose side they're on and i think we're getting there.
A block of text from the article in the quote that reads, "A woman was watching from her porch. Someone ran up and addressed her: “Ma’am, we’re out here defending the neighborhood against ICE. We need barricade materials. Is there anything in your yard you wouldn’t mind parting with?” She nodded urgently and showed them to her backyard, offering a flower bed, an old couch, and a lawn chair. Three people helped to carry these out and add them to the barricades."
