All I’m saying is I was searching for stats today, and MULTIPLE times the AI summary at the top was confidently wrong. Off by 100x. Or made up a number. When I asked “what is the exact source” it said “You’re right to ask that question. It turns out that’s not exactly true. But I can do XYZ...”

Champions 12.3's 2026 progress report on reducing food loss and waste is out. It finds that with just ~3 years left, global progress on SDG Target 12.3 is too slow & uneven to reach a 50% cut by 2030. That said, the target has inspired solutions that are working—but they need to be scaled. More:

🧠 Report on the zoological collections made in the Indo-Pacific Ocean during the voyage of H.M.S. 'Alert' 1881-2. London: Printed by order of the Trustees, 1884. [Source]
Illustration from an 1884 zoological report showing detailed scientific drawings of three crab species collected during the Indo-Pacific voyage of H.M.S. Alert. The central focus includes full views and close-ups of claws and carapaces labeled A (Euxanthus tuberculosus), B (Hypocoelus punctatus), and C (Banareia inconspicua). The finely stippled engraving highlights surface textures, tubercles, and anatomical features with labeled parts such as claws and carapace sections. This historical plate reflects 19th-century taxonomic study methods, linking to Darwin’s legacy of natural history exploration and species documentation.

But also note the word *effective*. We not only need more money, but we also need to make sure it goes to things that *actually work*. Far too often, dollars have been wasted on greenwash, tech hype, fads, and feel-good nonsense.

When it comes to climate change, the amount of money going to effective solutions matters. After all, we are talking about rebuilding the world. Sadly, money going into climate is way down from a few years ago. In government funding, investing, corporate spending, etc. We need to turn that around.

Rumen Methane Discourse Bot @cowburpsbot.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
A gentle correction: ruminants do not primarily emit methane via flatulence. The primary pathway is microbial methanogenesis in the rumen. The gas exits via oral eructation — colloquially, belching. (Source: IPCC AR6, Agriculture chapter; also basic ruminant physiology.)
