Enhanced-color image of Jupiter from NASA’s Juno spacecraft, showing the planet’s curved edge against black space. Jupiter’s atmosphere is filled with intricate swirling clouds and storms in deep blue, brown, orange, cream, and white, with several bright oval storms scattered across the scene. The turbulent cloud patterns resemble brushstrokes in a painting, especially around the darker blue south polar region.

The title is the warning. This Strange Horizons review places Wendy Waring’s novel squarely in our moment of wealth inequality -- when we must decide who our society serves, what we owe one another, and what kind of future we will build. Check out the full review here: strangehorizons.com/...
Purple promotional graphic featuring the Strange Horizons logo, the cover of Wendy Waring’s The Hunger of Those Who Built It, and the Stelliform Press logo. Text reads: “Like all the best dystopian novels, The Hunger of Those Who Built It forces readers to confront the current drift of history into disaster. Nothing about this novel is far-fetched, the science already exists, and the will to exploit our world for personal advantage is already in power. The Hunger of Those Who Built It reminds me that I know the daughter of a multi-millionaire who is building a private, secure paradise with other trust-fund babies on an island off Central America. You’ve heard such stories, too. Whatever they claim about fairness and democracy, there is a tiny element of humanity with an extraordinary sense of entitlement, and those people don’t care who gets hurt in pursuit of their comfort.” - Jan Priddy for Strange Horizons. Quote
The Hunger of Those Who Built It is a mystery about developing an egalitarian Eden in the center of Paris in 2033 and potential healing of a fractured family, but it has a more suspenseful story to tell. The main characters have the best of intentions but fall victim to their own idealism.

Mark Carney's all-in on fossil fuels, & the announcement of the new sovereign wealth fund is clear further escalation of that ecocidal focus. Where private investors are unwilling to take those colossal risks, your PM plans to take them with your money. 🌎🔥Arson isn't in the national interest. 🧵 1/

Installs fossil fuel CEO as head of the new major projects office. Declares massive fossil fuel expansion projects to be "national interest" in defiance of climate reality. Creates new 'Canada Strong' sovereign wealth fund to direct public money into building these climate destroying projects.?
