Also it completely mischaracterized the personality and approach of the manager Art Howe, who in reality was on board with using analytics (and the team had been doing so since the 1980s-90s)

I hate when people say bluesky is a toxic echo chamber when really it’s annoying in a rich tapestry of other ways

Saw Moneyball and thought it was surprising that it made it look like the success of the 2002 A’s was thanks to e.g. Scott Hatteberg and basically omitted the star pitching rotation of Zito/Hudson/Mulder and AL MVP Miguel Tejada. I can see doing that with a film set long ago but it was made in 2011.

Maybe a reason why the others don’t work is that they’re all named after something with a bolder/sweeter flavor than they actually have, setting up disappointment. Punch. Lemonade. Popsicle. Whereas the last one, Dream, matches the weaker flavor. Or maybe it’s just that the last one tasted better. 🤷‍♂️

Pineapple Tangerine Dream: Mercifully, it works. Starts off with a sweet taste reminiscent of a pineapple Lifesaver candy. Then it crosses over to a more bold citrus taste with a tangy finish. Refreshing and interesting. Would buy a whole case of it. 8/10

Kiwi Lemonade. Uh-oh. I was sure I’d like this one because I’m a sucker for citrus seltzer. But this one tasted like lemon seltzer with an extra bitter and lingering aftertaste and a hint of…not sure what. We’re 0-for-3 here. 3/10

I am slowly live posting my reviews of the new flavors. I wouldn’t buy a whole case of either one I’ve tried so far. I am a fan of the grapefruit, lime, lemon, mandarin, blueberry lemon, and blackberry mango flavors…

Nice! When I lived in Cameroon I had a guava tree in my yard and enjoyed getting them from the market (they had pink ones and white ones)

Prickly Pear Guava Punch: as a fan of Ocean Spray’s discontinued Mauna La’i guava drink in the 90s, I had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, it doesn’t pack much of a Punch. If the name hadn’t suggested guavas, I would have been hard-pressed to guess what soupçon de fruit this was. 4/10

fun fact: in 1992, berkley replaced columbus day with Indigenous Peoples day. then no other city or state did until 2014,when i was a policy aide for Alondra Cano and some friends and i convinced her to pass the resolution in Minneapolis. i got to write it and plan the celebration.

First up: Poolside Grape Pops. You know how when you get a snowcone but most of the syrup is on the bottom and the top is basically just snow? Or when you’ve chewed a piece of Bubblicious grape gum for 10 minutes? That’s this flavor. Bonus - when you burp it tastes like purple skittles. 5/10

People block words and phrases related to things they don't want to see on Bluesky. Sometimes these are genuinely triggering things; sometimes it's just preference. Include a pic with no alt text, and you're forcing them to see blocked content.
