Working up a character for a horny game that used to be a bit of a Swaggers McFuckboy as a teen/early 20s. Then while working as part of a salvage crew going into ruins after the guild adventurers cleared it, got trapped by some monsters they missed and wound up freeing a djinni from an old bottle.

If one wonders why "restorative/transformative" justice has a bad reputation for letting abusers avoid consequences while further hurting survivors, it's because that's how it often works in practice. You can say that's not the intent, that they've been co-opted, etc. But it still happens.

The first time I heard the term "restorative justice" my first thought was "oh, this is obviously a mode of justice that puts more focus on making restitution to the victims to 'restore' what was done to them as much as possible!" ...yeah, I'm apparently naive as fuck. Imagine my disappointment.

A lot of people don't realize the "mystery" in asmlp is obvious---in that WHAT happened is quite clear---that they don't stop to consider the true mystery: WHY these events happened, which was really the point I was making when I wrote it. THAT is the true mystery it + the sequel want you to solve.
