for millennia you would spend your life dreaming of an audience with the pope and today, through the miracle of technology, Jesus Returns Movie can talk to him with the press of a button and he uses it to say “has his excellency considered the Minions”
What about the Minions? Hundreds of humans working together to bring Entertainment to life... Does the Church Approve of that? Or is that a NO-GO?
Cartoons, Stop-Motion Animation, CGi... they're ALL in the same category. (Now, add Ai Films to it.) They're NOT traditional movies, they are something else... simply PURE entertainment. The Church now DECIDES what
TOOL Creative HUMANS are using?

and there’s a gif of two minions hula dancing in grass skirts that fall down and show their undies.

A phenomenal moment in the Senate. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., claims he has evidence Jack Smith went to a HAWKS game in Atlanta. Smith denies it. Schmitt declares he has busted Jack Smith for perjury. Smith, vexed, says he went to HAWKEYES game in Maryland. WATCH IN FULL, UNINTERRUPTED

So-called “inclusionary zoning,” the practice of requiring home builders to rent new apartments at a loss to low-income tenants, is a tax on new housing that worsens the housing shortage and raises rents overall in exchange for a handful of means-tested units. It’s bad policy!

Greater Boston builders say affordable-unit rules stall housing, but Boston won't budge

For some of these majors, governments are a primary employer. So this rather self-defeatingly deters people from entering those fields, meaning 5 years down the line, oops, there’s a shortage of qualified teachers & social workers prepared to work for public-sector wages.

The GOP cut funding to the IRS because *audits work* and they fundamentally don't believe rich people should have to play by the rules.
Line chart titled "Revenue per audit," subtitled "In-person audits, 2010-2014." It plots average revenue and average cost per audit by taxpayer income percentile, poorer to richer, from the 0–5th percentile to the top 0.1%. Source: Boning et al. 2023, "A Welfare Analysis of Tax Audits Across the Income Distribution."

Across the bottom half of the income distribution, revenue and cost track closely, both around $3,000–$6,000 per audit. Above the median, revenue pulls ahead of cost: about $10,000 vs. $5,000 near the 90th percentile, and about $17,000 vs. $8,000 at the 95th–99th. At the top, revenue jumps to about $31,000 for the 99–99.9th percentile and about $90,000 for the top 0.1%.

Best editorial I’ve seen all year from the Chicago Tribune yesterday. It’s undeniable that local communities have historically been excluded from consequential decisions, but the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction. We now live in an era defined by weaponized resistance to change.

As I’ve said before, they can’t afford to. Maybe we get eight years of normal government after this, but you can’t rely on long-term alliances with an electorate that’s demonstrated they’ll happily install a maniac the next time the economy hits a speedbump.

The government moving or hiding jailed people to avoid review by courts isn't some loophole in our habeas corpus rights. This government behavior has been considered a violation of the people's habeas corpus rights since at least the Habeas Corpus Act of 1679. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habeas_...
Jailors were forbidden to move prisoners from one prison to another or out of the country to evade the writ. In case of disobedience jailers would be punished with severe fines which had to be paid to the prisoner.[5][6]

The US already got a do over. A mulligan. A second chance. Much of the world, especially US allies, were ready to write off Trump’s first term as a fluke. The American people’s choice to put him back in power—as a convicted felon, after an openly bigoted, anti-democracy campaign—showed it was not.
