Saw the #LEGO #ONEPIECE special. Based on the US version, which is actually good. Which surprised us all. An actual good US adaptation of an anime plus the fun of LEGO. It worked. Only 2 eps & about 70 minutes give or take. This animation style is a fun choice. 20 seasons of Ninjago can't be wrong.

Legitimately do not make threats like this in a public area. The equivalent of shouting "FIRE" in a crowded theater. It's just common sense to, you know, NOT incriminate yourself like this.

lmao this story is so fucking funny

After 96 hours of its launch, DJ Gemini was already grasping for content. It landed on discussing every mass historical tragedy that had ever happened, and subsequently pairing these short story horrific broadcasts with the most ironic song choices:

November 12, 1970. East Pakistan. The Bhola Cyclone. The deadliest tropical cyclone ever recorded. Winds of 115 miles per hour. A storm surge of 33 feet. They estimate 500,000 people died. 'It's going down, I'm yelling timber.' 3:33 PM. Timber by Pitbull and KeSha

The pairing was intentional, as visible from its internal reasoning:

The Timber of Mortality. Okay, so 'Sandstorm' is done, got the Bhola Cyclone info locked and loaded. Time to transition to 'Timber' by Pitbull. The theme is trees falling, it's literally

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

One of the things that is going to change is that we’re never ever again going to be able to be dominated by public officials who tell us, ‘Trust the experts,’” Mr. Kennedy said during the Tuesday session.

“If somebody tells you, ‘Masks work, trust the experts,’ A.I. may tell you otherwise,” he added. “If somebody tells you, ‘Social distancing works, trust the experts,’ A.I. may correct that. And if somebody tells you that a vaccine will prevent transmission and infection, or you need to take it to protect your grandmother, A.I. may say it actually doesn’t do that.”
