Martin Smith @transmithim.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I'd forgotten about that stupid new import fee to the EU. Just had to cancel an eBay order to Germany for one of my Visionaries stands because the import handling fees from Royal Mail were more than the item itself. I'd have lost money selling it. 000

Martin Smith @transmithim.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Just turn off auto-correct. I ditched it years ago and instead just added a few of my most common typos into the typing shortcuts list so they get corrected but I don’t have to deal with the over-bearing nature of full on auto correct. 110

Martin Smith @transmithim.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Man, I was not expecting to see a variation of the Westaway Gambit on #CelebrityTraitors, especially not the first episode. I don't have faith these traitors aren't going to completely bungle it before the 10 episodes are up. 020

Martin Smith @transmithim.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I’ve had to take a call from eBay a couple of times recently too and they do at least have an Irish call centre, but every bit of advice they’ve given me there has been useless and contradicted elsewhere. Like they’re just making up shit to get you off the phone. 000
Martin Smith @transmithim.bsky.social · 01/10/2026You can over an hour(!) deep into dealing with them and they’ll decide they need to two-step verify you. As if someone else is going to access your account and put up with all this. 100
Martin Smith @transmithim.bsky.social · 01/10/2026And then there’s eBay, where you have to battle past an overbearing chatbot every single time, even if following up on an open case. Every human reply takes at least three minutes, even if it’s just confirming your name. Now they two-step verify via sms but not at the start. 100
Martin Smith @transmithim.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Amazon is even worse because it’ll auto-time you out after two minutes of no activity even if that’s two minutes of you waiting for the associate to check something/reply. Have to resort to typing needlessly in the text box while waiting just to avoid disconnection. 100
Martin Smith @transmithim.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I’ve been having to deal with InPost (who have subsumed Yodel) and the disparity between how long you have to wait for them to reply vs how quickly they’ll cut you off on the assumption you’re not there after they reply is maddening. Minutes vs seconds. 100
Martin Smith @transmithim.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I have spent far too much time lately dealing with live chat support agents (at least some of whom I suspect are chatbots pretending to be human). I used to prefer it to talking on the phone as it was quicker and more efficient, but it’s increasingly become tedious, frustrating and useless. 100
