Misogyny killed Monica many years before she died
When poor Monica Coghlan died in a car crash last week, it was a result both pitiful and inevitable. The rightful order had been restored. Justice had been done. Her sad, brief life was over: she had ...

"It is hard enough to be a carer for your own loved ones. The tenderness I dispensed to my mother, came from a battery she had charged with five decades of love. Being able to muster the energy and patience it takes to care for a complete stranger... Well, it's magical. It's a sort of superpower."

As @duncanweldon.bsky.social says here, that his arrest is being used to make money and how it will be used to portray him as a "martyr" is absolutely no reason not to prosecute him to the full extent of the law. Enough of this whole "your playing into their hands" idiocy. bsky.app/profile/dunc...

So happy to be back in beautiful Valldemossa, Mallorca.
View from the plane approaching Mallorca - mountains, sea and blue sky. Looking out of the lovely square kitchen window at Casa Palmeras to the courtyard well! Pool at Finca Son Sauvanet. Zen stone pebble tower in foreground. Trees and blue sky in background. View over the terrace at Casa Palmeras looking towards Valldemossa mountains. Cloudless blue sky. Large palm tree in foreground

Genuinely: where is the Prime Minister? Critical infrastructure has been occupied by a fascist paramilitary, volunteers who save people's lives have been threatened and it seems to have gone unremarked upon.

The worst part came before that when he described Ed Miliband as "of Jewish heritage". The word he was looking for is: Jewish. Disgusting. Many (most) journalists would be sacked for this and rightly so. I hope Miliband makes a formal complaint.

Thing is, I am not entirely sure he "gatecrashed" anything or "confronted" anyone. I think there is a perfectly good possibility - I put it no higher - this was arranged with Yusuf and as "spontaneous" as the disorder. If my instinct is right, it's the starting pistol for the race to replace Farage.

It isn’t an operational matter for the police, it is a matter of national security. Left or right, there are good reasons why we do not allow groups to shut down key infrastructure, especially those who will not show their faces.

I plead with people not to propagate their "it won't make a difference; his supporters love him" gloom. Actually, Farage is on the ropes and he didn't get there by himself. He's there because people continue to believe resistance does make a difference. It's also wrong on the facts. 1/3

It’s really no surprise that the Reform audience had a violent rage that was primed and ready to be unleashed against any protesters who popped up. The level of demonisation by both Reform and its media facilitators against their opponents makes this inevitable. Identical scenes at Trump rallies.

#OnThisDay in 1977, NASA launched the Voyager 1 probe to study the outer solar system. It's still transmitting data, and at over 15.9 billion miles away is the most distant man-made object. In 1990, Voyager 1 took the famous 'Pale Blue Dot' image, showing Earth from over 6 billion kilometres away.
The image depicts the Voyager 1 spacecraft in space, set against a backdrop of stars and nebulous, blue cosmic clouds.A photograph of space showing scattered light beams with a small, pale dot known as Earth. This image is famously known as the "Pale Blue Dot," captured by the Voyager 1 spacecraft.

If they’re not making claims about what they’re supposedly protesting about it’s not a protest. It’s disruption, blockade, etc. No attention should be given to speculating about their motives. If they don’t tell anyone, it’s their problem. Just arrest them for interfering with essential transport.

These are all great tips. I'd add two more.... 1) Do not let the entire panel answer the same Q (from you or audience) unless they are disagreeing. No one wants to hear the same answer four times phrased slightly differently.

Iceland is not in the EU, but it is a member of the Schengen area. It’s also a member of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and is part of the Single Market, meaning it enjoys freedom of movement with the EU. Good to know that doesn’t impact their independence. Maybe we should try it, Nige.
