The way I typically judge both ideologies and technologies is by what they do. Not what people say they do. What actual consequences they have for people. If they actually make things better, then they can be viewed as good/beneficial. But if all they do is harm, no future promises are worth it.

I enjoyed attending the U (well, until the harassment and retaliation) but every newscycle seems to make me more embrarrased than ever to be an alum. Maybe instead of wasting their surplus on pushing AI or yet another athletics boondoggle, they could conspire to teach students? Just a thought.

Only if it's not an equity stake. AI companies want to repeat the model of tobacco companies—making taxing and regulation such a big part of the political fabric that we can't burn them to the ground. We should be seeking corporate death penalties for AI, not floating them on the public dime.

When Schmitt was Missouri's AG he brought a lawsuit to stop student debt cancellation. The basic facts that lawsuit was based on were false. Getting the facts wrong is Schmitt's special skill, but when SCOTUS is politically motivated to do something the facts & law don't matter.
