These responses are quite common because folks truly just don't understand the student debt crisis — which is part of the reason the movement needs stronger champions. They don't understand how much debt you have to take on to be a physician, lawyer or even teacher.

$429,000. $367,000. $501,933. We should not have a system in which Americans cannot decipher whether these numbers represent the price of a home or a student loan balance.

What happened at Cornell was not an anomaly — those boys just got caught. When we talk about College For All, it can't just be about free tuition. We need an end to rape culture and the universities that allow it to persist.

One of our members picked a new student debt plan to join yesterday, according to their deadline. Today, they got a notification saying they’ll be put into a “new repayment plan.” Is the “new” plan the same plan as yesterday? Or is the “new” plan a NEW new plan? Nobody knows.

The Department of Education has been incentivizing people to switch out of the SAVE plan and onto a more expensive plan. They said they would reduce your interest rate by 1% if you enroll in autopay by Sep 30th. But they just extended the deadline to Dec 31. This was a trick.

When Schmitt was Missouri's AG he brought a lawsuit to stop student debt cancellation. The basic facts that lawsuit was based on were false. Getting the facts wrong is Schmitt's special skill, but when SCOTUS is politically motivated to do something the facts & law don't matter.

Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of student debtors are being kicked off an affordable repayment plan and put into more expensive plans tomorrow. Many are trying to find payment plans that work for them. Here's the repayment calculator today.

You cannot talk about "affordability" without talking about debt. We're being robbed twice. First at our workplace by our bosses who refuse to pay use enough. Then a second time by our creditors for charging us interest to borrow for what our bosses don't pay us. It's a sham.
