I used to work for a guy who would say "there are no risk management heroes" - the idea that doing the small, difficult work that is required every day wins no medals or accolades, is utterly undefeated in my experience. 👇 is another example of that. In fact, this one is going to cost you.

We need to stop accepting AI vendors using the word "misalignment". You keep running software you know has unpredictable behaviour, without monitoring or controls, in a way that could harm others. This isn't "agent was misaligned" - it is (possibly criminal) negligence at this point.

It really is quite amazing to see the RBA just go with prices are going up for reasons outside our control, adding more pain with an interest rate rise won't help and might crash the economy, but we asked the Peter Costello body pillow we keep around for advice and it said ok

Inflation is being driven by war, greedy corporations and climate change. But somehow it's regular people that need to pay through job losses, mortgage and rental stress. What looks sensible to the RBA is hubris on a society level www.abc.net.au/news/2026-09...

the RBA board are unanimously psychopaths with no regard for the pain they cause
RBA board unanimously voted to hike and is ready to lift rates again.

The RBA’s rate-setting board has warned its fears about inflation were coming to fruition and it is ready to lift interest rates again, in its statement accompanying its decision today.

The nine-member unanimously voted to lift rates to 4.6%, showing stronger resolve than ANZ and Westpac had forecast (each predicted a split vote).

It singled out a broadening Middle East conflict and strong AI-related demand for pushing up prices globally. Locally, inflation was higher than the RBA expected and businesses were either lifting their prices or looking to do so.

The board said higher fuel prices were partially being passed on to prices of other goods and services and it was possible the ongoing US war on Iran could push inflation still higher and drag global economic activity even lower.

The RBA has already lifted interest rates three times this year. The board said those hikes appeared to be slowing the economy but another was needed to bring too-high inflation back down “in a reasonable period”.

It warned it was not necessarily done moving rates:

The Board will continue to do what it considers necessary to bring inflation sustainably back to target, including increasing the cash rate target further if needed.

Bullock AGAIN says (she has said this a lot] "a rise in the unemployment rate does not mean job losses". She loves pointing out it just means it is harder to find a job and that employment is still going up and it "probably doesn't mean job losses at all"

A reminder that this year the unemployment rate has gone up 0.56%pts - roughly an extra 87,000 unemployed. So in 15 min when the RBA raises rates again just remember 35-44yos on Jobseeker are almost 10 times more likely to die than those not on welfare: www.theguardian.com/business/gro...
Chart showing deaths per 100,000 by age
22-34yo: 17.1 no welfare; 137.0 on Jobseeker
35-44yo: 30 no welfare; 288.1 on Jobseeker
45-55yo: 83.4 no welfare; 427.0 on Jobseeker

It's interesting from the viewpoint that China sees warfare as an interruption to the rising wealth and living standards of their people, while the US still views war as an opportunity for the rich to get richer. East meets West indeed.

Farmers who intend to vote for One Nation should know that they are accepting that “climate change” is normal.By doing so they will negate any logical argument for taxpayer assistance when “normal” weather events occur. Don’t ask for help if you deny the very thing you need help to overcome!
