The question that’s dominating the field is not a causality question. It’s really, how can one sell a causal relationship while crafting the language so that there’s plausible deniability when somebody criticizes anything.

EU friends: pls be aware that you cannot share certain types of data on Zenodo because Zenodo does actually not comply with GDPR. @lakens.bsky.social 's blog has a great summary. It's a pretty serious reason to avoid Zenodo for researchers who work with data, if I understand the issue correctly.

We must make the online world safer for children and young people, but a social media ban alone might not achieve that. Experience from Australia suggests that compliance with the ban is low because young people remain online if their peers do - they don't want to miss out on social connections. 3/4

Also it's clear now the UK's response to the teething problems with the Australia ban was not "the whole concept was the problem," its response is "Australia isn't enforcing hard enough, so we'll nerd harder with compliance" which in this case means all users being facial scanned + IDs etc.
