#WissKomm

What happens when we look closer at textbook findings about early infancy? Well, lots of questions arise. (Which imo makes science fun)

It is the responsibility of every securely employed/tenured professor to do everything they can to challenge this academic environment. That means speaking up institutionally & taking decisions with less secure colleagues at the forefront of our minds.

In the time of enshittification of, well, everything the role of higher education is not to teach students how to enshittificate more efficiently. It is to provide them with hard skills like source criticism, languages, writing or critical reading that will allow them to survive all of this.

Using this to bring my frequent rant to your feed as well: There are literally thousands of languages and all are their own wonderful universe. Some are signed, some are written, some seem vowelless... And no, AI does not speak all the languages (it technically doesn't even speak one, it parrots)

Metascientists need to be required to read history of science. We already know so much about how an individual experiment is not a miraculous thing that is supposed to single-handedly produce fail-proof scientific facts. More than science, it's our assumptions about science that we must fix.

Yes! The way men in academia benefit from misogyny is direct & less personal than how they benefit from misogyny generally even if these are interlinked. Destroying a random woman at work can be very rewarding with a promotion, for example. Mistreating your wife more obviously directly backfires.

On a quick skim, the core function that OSF will fulfil is registration of studies (plus protocols and analysis plans) and hosting preprints. This means we will need to find data repositories for new projects following mid-November; perhaps Github, Zenodo, or university-operated commons.
