Teach your son to wait. Teach him that other people are as important as he is. Teach him to apologize and go back to the end of the line if he made an entitled decision. Teach him that girls and women deserve respect in *all* scenarios—not just during sex.

Holy COW. Text analysis of comments on the OMB rule: overwhelming opposition, overwhelmingly not form letters. (But 9 in 10 comments supporting the rule ARE form responses, LOL) Whatever happens next, folks have stepped up.
Screenshot text: Between May 29 and July 9, roughly 51,000 comments were posted to regulations.gov (and over 200,000 more had been received but not yet published). The verdict on public sentiment is clear and lopsided: about 94 percent oppose the proposed rule and only 6 percent support it, with fewer than one percent marked as unclear. The opposition is overwhelmingly grassroots rather than orchestrated. Form letters make up only about 16 percent of all comments (roughly 8,400 comments across 210 distinct campaigns), and only about one in eight opposing comments came from a form-letter campaign. Support for the rule, by contrast, was almost entirely organized: nearly nine in ten supportive comments (about 2,500) came from a single form-letter campaign. Opponents mostly wrote their own comments; supporters mostly signed the same form-letter.

It’s not just that due process doesn’t apply to political candidates—it’s literally the opposite of the evidentiary standard for political candidates. The burden is entirely on *them* to prove to *us* that they possess the integrity and good sense to hold office.

Believe Women is an epistemological stance. It doesn't mean you assume that every single woman is telling the truth and women never lie. It means you understand that in the system that we exist in, there's much more risk and pain for women coming forward about abuse than there is anything to gain.

This here is the entire crux of the issue. We had sensible regulations requiring years of testosterone suppression and hormone therapy to play in women's sports. This had not been a problem for nearly twenty years, including at the olympics. Then the right made it one by straight up lying about it.

Trump's making things more expensive because of all the wildly illegal and corrupt stuff he's doing!

turns out that you can drive up the birthrate with a baby bonus, you just need to crank it up to twice the per capita income www.nytimes.com/2026/05/07/o...
Or very deep pockets. In South Korea, home to one of the world’s lowest fertility rates — 0.8 lifetime births per woman — the construction company Booyoung Group made headlines in 2024 when it offered 100 million Korean won (around $68,000 today, or roughly twice South Korea’s annual per capita income) to any of its employees who had a baby. Last year, the company reported 36 births — an increase of about 60 percent compared with the average before the program was launched. The bonus is on top of ongoing support for medical expenses and eventual college tuition. Employees who have a third child can potentially choose between the 100-million-won payment and guaranteed, permanent housing support. “The company resolved the financial concerns that were my biggest worry in having a second child,” one employee told a Korean newspaper, which calculated that if the company were a nation, its birthrate would be 3.6 times as high as South Korea’s.

Mamdani has demonstrated something that Democrats have largely forgotten. You can't just do good things for voters and expect to be rewarded for it. You have to tell them about it, over and over again. You have to advertise your work in office just as much as you did on the campaign to win it.

The lesson of deliverism's failure and popularism's hollowness is that you assemble durable political coalitions out of thick social ties and serious institution-building efforts. The rise of tax cut slopulism indicates that a lot of D officials think the lesson is they need dumber policy platforms.

4. Kagan explains this well, but what's perhaps most galling about Callais is how the majority effectively overrules Congress's judgment about how best to enforce the Reconstruction Amendments, as it did in Shelby County. This extreme judicial activism is a huge threat to democratic self-governance.

They are also much harder to erode. The rich don't want to be taxed in a way that is harder to erode.
