Everything scared me, but the “Cerulean blue” moment in The X Files has sat with me all these years. Something about that kind of influence over other people was particularly scary.

Teach your son to wait. Teach him that other people are as important as he is. Teach him to apologize and go back to the end of the line if he made an entitled decision. Teach him that girls and women deserve respect in *all* scenarios—not just during sex.

I legitimately like watching people win awards. Show me guest actors! Costumers! Production designers! Host of reality show (cough more Alan Cumming cough)! Let’s celebrate craft! And more Alan Cumming!!

It captures the pure magic that are fireflies, and did literally take my breath away in that scene reveal, so it will always be special to me.

Gah bummer on the technical difficulties! I really enjoyed the show too - it had so much more story after what I thought would be the “story” and was surprisingly layered. A lot to connect with and a lot to chew on. I’m glad you’ll get to see the end soon!

You know you’ve married well when your husband sings to your newborn about their dirty diaper (while changing them) to the tune of “Finishing the Hat.” I think Sondheim would be proud.

This is unfortunately why MAHA and MAHA-adjacent things are so successful with lots of women — we have legitimate conditions that are woefully underfunded in research and treatment(or dismissed as real issues for decades) and are desperate for solutions. It’s depressing. And expensive.

Think about Miss Piggy. She lost a best friend and now an ex-lover in matter of 24 hours.
Miss Piggy and Dolly Parton in fancy dresses posing together photo of Tim Curry surrounded by muppets, smiling for a photo. A quote from curry is added “it didn’t go very well. Geologists and evolutionary biologists do not have to debate creationists. Astronomers do not have to debate pre-Copernican theories of the heavens. Doctors do not have to debate anti-vax nuts. Climate scientists do not have to debate industry-funded deniers. All that goes for racists times ten.

Ice water is a great one. I use it when I’m having an adrenaline spike, and just shove my face or hands in a bowl of it. If I don’t have the energy to make the bowl (or someone to make it for me), ice pack on back of the neck gives a good jolt.

Yep! This is why I have a seat cane! I had POTS before I got Covid, but it got significantly worse after. Hiking poles are also quite useful. I don’t use them all the time, but they’re tremendously helpful and let me do a few more things without needing substantial recovery after.

I remember seeing this in theaters and going over in my head how many more characters had to die before the movie would be over and we could leave. Just dreadful. As a Cassandra, I was already miffed at being cut out, but then it was just plain BAD.

The main thing to recommend is getting a Boog’s pit beef sandwich, regardless of where you sit! They have 2 locations: Eutaw St and sec 242. My parents love sitting club level at the tables/drink rail area at the back of the section, 3rd base side. Access to AC is NICE.

Local Game Stores really are the one place keeping this sort of thing alive, but they are more few and far between than I wish. Most have a Magic night weekly. I enjoy seeing more board game cafes pop up, but they seem more used by 20 and 30 somethings than teens.

Holy COW. Text analysis of comments on the OMB rule: overwhelming opposition, overwhelmingly not form letters. (But 9 in 10 comments supporting the rule ARE form responses, LOL) Whatever happens next, folks have stepped up.
Screenshot text: Between May 29 and July 9, roughly 51,000 comments were posted to regulations.gov (and over 200,000 more had been received but not yet published). The verdict on public sentiment is clear and lopsided: about 94 percent oppose the proposed rule and only 6 percent support it, with fewer than one percent marked as unclear. The opposition is overwhelmingly grassroots rather than orchestrated. Form letters make up only about 16 percent of all comments (roughly 8,400 comments across 210 distinct campaigns), and only about one in eight opposing comments came from a form-letter campaign. Support for the rule, by contrast, was almost entirely organized: nearly nine in ten supportive comments (about 2,500) came from a single form-letter campaign. Opponents mostly wrote their own comments; supporters mostly signed the same form-letter.

It’s not just that due process doesn’t apply to political candidates—it’s literally the opposite of the evidentiary standard for political candidates. The burden is entirely on *them* to prove to *us* that they possess the integrity and good sense to hold office.

Believe Women is an epistemological stance. It doesn't mean you assume that every single woman is telling the truth and women never lie. It means you understand that in the system that we exist in, there's much more risk and pain for women coming forward about abuse than there is anything to gain.

This here is the entire crux of the issue. We had sensible regulations requiring years of testosterone suppression and hormone therapy to play in women's sports. This had not been a problem for nearly twenty years, including at the olympics. Then the right made it one by straight up lying about it.
