It's the national year of reading in the uk in 2026. Instead of asking "why don't kids read any more", ask "how can I help them find the stories (and non fic) they will fall in love with". Less "get off my lawn whippersnappers" and more "come, sit on the lawn, here's a comic".

Cruelty is anhedonic. It rarely delivers the euphoria promised because, in the abstract, what feels righteous and joyful inevitably reveals itself to be sordid and small. Then it's "No not like that". "No not enough". "No the real battle, the forever war to make this feel good starts now". Forever.

CyricZ - The Dragon of GameFAQs @cyricz42.bsky.social · 11/12/2025
Announcement: I will not be writing a GameFAQs guide for Yakuza Kiwami 3/Dark Ties. Full statement below:
Hi everyone. CyricZ here. After giving myself time to reflect on my options, I’ve decided that I will not be writing a GameFAQs guide for Yakuza Kiwami 3 / Dark Ties. I will not be purchasing the game, nor playing it in any capacity.
I write guides because I love writing, and I write for the games that I write for because they inspire me. The joy I find in them drives me to give my best work. If I were to write a guide entirely out of obligation or expectation, I do not believe my best work would find its way to the page.
With the hiring of known sexual harasser Teruyuki Kagawa to the face and voice cast of Yakuza Kiwami 3, I do not find myself inspired by the game. The Like a Dragon series has a long-standing history of opposing sexual misconduct in all its forms and I feel this casting goes against that message.Key members of RGG Studio have refused to speak on the hiring of Kagawa after his misconduct was made more widely known. While they are by no means required to speak about this, by their silence they have sent a message that they do not view Kagawa’s misconduct as a dealbreaker for inclusion in the series cast, nor do they deem it worth addressing. This stands in contrast to steps taken in the past to replace other cast members that did not align with their values.
I won’t go into further detail on the issue itself as the information is widely available via the #REMOVEKAGAWA movement. The rest of this will be about me, my guides, and my relationship with RGG Studio and the Like a Dragon series.I remain a fan of the Like a Dragon series. It’s not something I can just excise from myself. I intend to continue playing past Like a Dragon games on stream as they are some of my favorite video games. That may be subject to change in the future, but the plans are to continue playing the games on stream in my intended order, with the exception of Yakuza Kiwami 3 or Dark Ties. The only minor thing that will change with regards to my streams is that I intend to take special note during stream of the many, many instances during the series that remind us of the societal ill of sexual misconduct.
As to future games put out by RGG Studio, I reserve the right to not make a decision on those at this time. That will be a “wait and see” situation, dependent on future actions or inactions by RGG Studio.
Further, if things change with regards to the release of Yakuza Kiwami 3, I reserve the right to reassess all the preceding. RGG Studio still has the opportunity to do right in this situation, and I hold onto hope that they will see the best way forward. Finally, I promise to all my readers that my GameFAQs guides for the Like a Dragon series and other RGG Studio games will be going nowhere no matter what happens. Not only are they some of my best work, but if I preserve the guides with myself as the author, I remain in creative control of them. This prevents others from taking the text and redistributing it without my consent, which is something I fear would happen if I were to remove them from GameFAQs entirely.
For those of you who read my guides, thank you so much for your support, and I’m sorry I will not be helping with this upcoming game. For anyone who wants to write a guide on GameFAQs for Yakuza Kiwami 3, be my guest, not that you need my permission anyway. For those of you joining me in solidarity against Kagawa and this release, I thank you all for sticking with it. Your commitment has inspired this.
Be good to each other,
Scott “CyricZ” Zdankiewicz

Slept dreaming of, woke up thinking about the extraordinary What Resembles the Grave but Isn’t by Anne Boyer
what resembles the grave but isn't
Always falling into a hole, then saying "ok, this is not your grave, get out of this hole," getting out of the hole which is not the grave, falling into a hole again, saying "ok, this is also not your grave, get out of this hole," getting out of that hole, falling into another one; sometimes falling into a hole within a hole, or many holes within holes, getting out of them one after the other, then falling again, saying "this is not your grave, get out of the hole"; sometimes being pushed, saying "you can not push me into this hole, it is not my grave," and getting out defiantly, then falling into a hole again without any pushing; sometimes falling into a set of holes whose structures are predictable, ideological, and long dug, often falling into this set of structural and impersonal holes; sometimes falling into holes with other people, with other people, saying "this is not our mass grave, get out of this hole," all together getting out of the hole together, hands and legs and arms and human ladders of each other to get out of the hole that is not the mass grave but that will only be gotten out of together; sometimes the willful-falling into a hole which is not the grave because it is easier than not falling into a hole really, but then once in it, realizing it is not the grave, getting out of the hole eventually; sometimes falling into a hole and languishing there for days, weeks, months, years, because while not the grave very difficult, still, to climb out of and you know after this hole there's just another and another; sometimes surveying the landscape of holes and wishing for a high quality final hole; sometimes thinking of who has fallen into holes which are not graves but might be better if they were; sometimes too ardently contemplating the final hole while trying to avoid the provisional ones; sometimes dutifully falling and getting out, with perfect fortitude, saying
"look at the skill and spirit with which I rise from…
