My copy of the Rebel Loon Archive just arrived. It’s a beautiful book, inside and out. Heartbreaking but also inspiring. So perfectly done! Bravo to this whole project and the contributors.
Picture of book The Rebel Loon Archive“ABOUT THE BOOK
The Rebel Loon Archive: Art Against Operation Metro Surge is a documentary art book preserving visual and written responses to federal immigration enforcement in Minnesota in early
2026. Featuring protest signs, poetry, paintings, and other works by 300 artists, this book preserves expressions of horror, solidarity, and defiance as primary sources for future generations. Curated and edited by Erica Helander for Rebel Loon Press, it documents how neighbors in Minnesota and beyond responded to intense civil unrest.
The 250-page physical book measures 8.5x11" with a velvety soft-touch hardcover, with decorative headbands as part of the book's binding, and thick satin-finish paper lets the artwork shine.
Please note: this book contains a content warning for violence and mild sexual themes. Use discretion when sharing it with younger readers.”

Let’s not forget that the precautions we associate with Covid (clean air, PPE like masks) were *lessons* more of us learned in the earlier stages of the pandemic. Lessons that, applied, can protect from many other viral illnesses and create greater access for immunocompromised people.

This means to protect public health and create more access for people whose absence in social life was taken for granted before the pandemic began shouldn’t be ceded for the false and temporary trappings of “normalcy.” It’s ground that should be maintained wherever possible.

The poltical pressure to capitulate on PPE is immense: on every individual who wears masks, on every event that requires it, on every social group that maintains it as a norm. The goal is to wipe every trace of what we remind them of from awareness. To mask is a regular practice in resistance.

What a surprise, the organizers of the covid cautious dyke bar hated the article, rejected its framing, and is defending their covid cautious patrons and performers. Anyone who joined in on the viral harassment campaign started by Jesse Singal wanna say oops or…? recorder.com/2026/09/24/g...
Current and former owners of Last Ditch could not be reached by phone, email or social media. However, Last Ditch did share on Instagram that the Globe story allegedly misconstrued statements from Noire, and urged community members to stop harassing Noire.
"It is neither productive, progressive, nor valiant to attack a Black patron. He has been a collaborator and performer of Last Ditch for a while, and he deserves to speak his mind about accountability and repair from the bar," the Last Ditch statement reads. "There are so many misconceptions due to the disorganization of the Globe article. He did not call for the bar to be firebombed. Further, he did not disparage the owner for being homeless.
"As a result of this abysmal journalism, he has been getting additional threats, slurs, harassment, and is being reported to the police over something he did not do," Last Ditch continued. "This is not supporting us at Last Ditch, and it is, at its core, anti-Blackness hysteria."

Today's radical seed planting: bought an extra copy of Never Again, For Anyone - a book I really wish had existed when I was a kid - and put it in a Little Free Library.
My hand holds the book Never Again for Anyone, by Stacy Friedman, illustrated by Elly Stern, in front of an open Little Free Library that is painted dark blue. The cover has a light blue background with white swirls and depicts two pairs of moms with their kids holding a protest sign with the book's title on it. On one side is a white Jewish mom with curly brown hair and a red shirt and her son with curly brown hair and a green hoodie. On the other side is an Arab mom wearing a green hijab and a keffiyeh, and her daughter with long black hair and a yellow and purple shirt.
