good reminder that before the counting is over, election results don’t tighten. at no point is anyone trailing. nobody moves closer. they’re just tabulating the polls. it’s a fixed number that just isn’t done yet. to say otherwise is bad journalism but even worse math.

Yes, arresting a journalist for doing their job is a big flashing red light. But I don't want people to forget the whole reason everyone is out there. This is what I saw inside: Four holding rooms. Two smaller rooms were being used for holding protesters. Two larger rooms held ICE/CBP captives.

Steve is fine/uninjured. Some neck pain from being tackled. His biggest concern while in custody was what was happening to people outside the facility since he couldn't hear any of the munitions from inside. In typical Steve fashion, he also made a number of new friends while detained.

I really appreciated this! At the Chicago Reader, where I edited the arts calendar for years (a “Goings On About Town” analog), we had a completist approach to listings that was integral to the health of the city’s artistic fringe. It wasn’t a job that won awards, but it was incredibly fulfilling.
