And the video was only available bc the incident went to the state's attorney, charges were filed, and the case went to trial. The videos of vulnerable teenagers injured by guards can easily be kept secret within the judicial branch if there is no outside investigation. Which there usually is not.

For an idea of what can happen in the JTDC and the 14 other facilities, see @kellygarcia.bsky.social's excellent reporting for @injusticewatch.org on an employee pushing a handcuffed 15 y/o to the floor so hard he was knocked unconscious. They had to get the video from the state's attorney's office.

All manner of interesting and fun stuff in today's @injusticewatch.org newsletter including my recommendations for seasonal horror movies. I personally do not condone the Chicago Bears but @kellygarcia.bsky.social has a recommendation if they're your thing. www.injusticewatch.org/subscribe/
Scary movies are a year-round pastime for me, but most Christmas horror films are lame cash-ins. Here are a few personal favorites with winter settings or holiday themes: the Finnish dark fantasy gem “Rare Exports,” Joe Dante’s rightfully classic “Gremlins,” the brooding Swedish vampire thriller “Let the Right One In,” the indie werewolf charmer “The Wolf of Snow Hollow,” and the enduringly distressing Kathy Bates masterwork “Misery.” —Dan Hinkel, senior reporterDa Bears are finally good again! Chicago’s football team, which for many years delivered only disappointment and shame to its fans, is currently No. 1 in the NFC. To celebrate, I spent my holiday weekend cozied up in bed with a plate of leftovers, watching “The Shuffle,” the new HBO Max documentary about the making of the iconic 1985 Bears rap music video by the same name. It’s a short 40 minutes with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with former players on the Super Bowl-winning team. But what the documentary does best is generate excitement and hope for fans long awaiting the Bears’ next Super Bowl win. —Kelly Garcia, reporter

This is from a video on X, showing inside the Broadview ICE facility when Noem was in town on Fri. For context, she's in the central room with 15 workstations setup to process detained individuals, whether they were arrested by immigration enforcement or at protests. See the orange triangles?
Kristi Noem inside the ICE facility at 1930 Beach St. in Broadview, IL. She is standing near a white man, smiling at a desk with a computer monitor and printer. Behind her is a cell door with a man looking out a narrow slit window. Next to him, three or four other men are seen through a larger window in the cell.

Behind the white man are two upside down "demo bags" taped up over the windows to another cell.
