Inflation going back to normal specifically means that the already unaffordable things are even less affordable even if those differences are a small, expected percent. And given everything going wrong with the economy - rich richer, less social services, AI, etc - it’s not unreasonable to be mad.

Rapid and unexpected price increases followed by lower, steady /further/ price increases doesn’t make people feel better. People were, and honestly I think rightfully even if it’s not How It Works, expecting prices to revert back to what was expected and are mad that they just keep getting higher.

New York City’s economy is larger than several US states combined. He has more power and ability to do good there than he ever would has a senator. He’s not leaving unless he dreams of being governor, and I doubt he’d do that because it’s easier to pull levers in NYC
