I just had a focus group meeting over some draft ideas of the new HSE trans model of care. I almost exploded. I said before the ideas were presented that at best, I thought the HSE would do fuck all, at worst, I thought they'd find more efficient and effective means to abuse us. I was so right...

The “Pathways” trial is, IMO on more than one level, a thoroughly unethical piece of “research” to be carrying out on children, especially children who are part of a marginalised minority.
In Total

Young people must complete:
• 6 physical exams
• 10 medical tests
• 20 psychological questionnaires
• 5 full neuropsychological test batteries
(repeated 3 times)
• 6 developmental screeners
• 4 administrative assessments
• MRI scans (CONNECT only)

More than 50 assessments in total, many repeated six, eight or even more times over two years. And that still leaves out everything that surrounds them, including travel, long clinic waits, repeated appointments, disrupted schooling and the emotional weight of being asked again and again to revisit the most painful parts of their lives.

The colonialism of British TERFs is through the roof. Again. This open letter from Irish feminists to British transphobes in 2018 remains relevant. Where was JK Rowling's money for #RepealThe8th? But she has it to spread British Anti-LGBT hate in Ireland? #Spéirgorm feministire.com/2018/01/22/a...
So tell us: what is it that you know of Irish feminism that you feel entitled and authorised to come here and lecture us on? Dublin has not been part of the UK since 1921, yet you originally described ‘We Need To Talk’ as a UK tour while still including Dublin on your list of venues. This gives us some idea of how little you know about Irish realities, north or south.

We do not need you here. We have not had your support in our fight for #repealthe8th, our fight against the historical and ongoing impact of the Magdalene Laundries, our fight for taking back control of our hospitals from religious orders, our fight for justice for women and babies tortured and entombed in Mother and Baby homes.

Do you know, for example, that in the north of Ireland, legally part of the UK, women still cannot access safe and legal abortion? Have you campaigned on this in any way? If you have, why don’t we know about it? Did you strike in solidarity with us on March 8th last year? Did you even know we were striking and for what? Do you have any kind of concept of what a feminism in a country shaped by struggle against Empire looks like?

I finally came out as transgender in work in my own style, which was: - Computing binomial distributions of how many people might be jerks about it - Dropping an @channel at eight in the evening 🏳️‍⚧️
probability of bad outcomes, y axis probabilities, x axis number of difficult people. Binomial distributions colour coded from 5%, 10%, ..., 20%

Left-skewed distributions centered from 1.0 to 3.6. So ballpark 2% - 15% odds of everyone being normal but also low odds of many people being jerks
