Seriously, please don't be too shy or polite to ask for ICE whistles if you need them, especially in SoCal. A bunch of us have stockpiles all ready to go in case of surges, if you have the ability to pass them out, we have the whistles!

As of today, the CDC has changed (reverted) their Covid guidance to make the vaccine recommended for all people over 18. In addition to being a smart public health move, this recommendation also means insurance must cover it. Read more here: www.cdc.gov/covid/hcp/va... Listen to a breakdown here:

Children were also affected by the occupation - those who were detained, kept home away from school and friends, or whose friends were suddenly not around. This crop art may not be aimed directly at kids, but some of it looks like it should be hung up on a nursery wall.
Untitled? by Unknown?
The nametag and seedlist are entirely hidden by another piece of crop art.

A white bunny is depicted on a black circular background. Around the upper right of the piece are the words "Nope. No, sir. I don't approve of ICE." I don't know if there's something specific that inspired this piece.Untitled? by Kent Morris and Emeline Rogers
what looks like a matchbox or product box has an image of a raised fist and the words GENERAL STRIKES (by a stylized G that looks like that of General Mills, a Minnesota company). On the side of the box it says "Minnesota tradition" and on the top, "since 1934".

The seedlist is partially hidden behind another piece of crop art, but among the crops used are poppy seeds, golden flax, red lentils, amaranth, brown flax, millet, and thistle.
-
Untitled? by Krista Goodale
This piece shows a white and brown stiped kitten with a blue collar, knocking over a glass of water and ice. The words "BECOME UNGOVERNABLE" are above and below the image."

The seedlist is mostly hidden by another piece of crop art, I think about the Artemis 2 mission?Untitled? by Laura Melnick
In what looks like a drawing for a nursery rhyme, a mother duck in a blue kerchief, leading three ducklings as they walk somewhere, is holding in her wing a sign saying "ABOLISH". Each of the three ducklings has a sign as well, spelling out "ICE".

The seed list, where the title of the piece is often given, says "SPECIAL (AWFUL!) OCCASION", alluding to the Special Occasion category of crop art that this was submitted for.

In addition to the 13 kinds of seeds used (some with subtypes), the seedlist card also has an image of a Rebel Loon, a protest sign saying "We want justice, We want peace, We want ICE off our streets" and the words METRO SURGE in an explosion shape. This photo shows four small pieces. Three are circular with a loon theme, and the fourth is not.
-
"Leave MN Aloon" by Gayle Deutsch, based on Andi Fink's Artwork
In the upper left is a piece with a circular yellow background, with the pun "LEAVE MINNESOTA ALOON" in black and an image of a loon with wings outspread.

The piece is made with basil seeds, black lentils, hulled millet (painted), mung bean (painted), wild rice, and white quinoa.

This piece was awarded a white ribbon for third place in its category.
-
Untitled? by Ike Whiting
In the upper right is a different take on the "Rebel Loon" circular icon that came out of these protests. The loon seems to be flying out of a book, against a light blue background, toward an 8-pointed North Star.

The seedlist depicts the Whipple Federal Building, where detainees were first taken, behind a chain link fence and razor wire. The crops are listed as if on protest signs hung on the fence. This piece used Split pea, lentil, wild rice, sorghum, sunflower seeds, millet, barley, a great northern bean, and rye berries.
-
"Proud as a loon... in Minnesota" by Amanda Cushman? Original art by Meghan Albers in partnership with The Mustache Cat
In the lower right is a round piece with a light blue background. the words "PROUD as a LOON" are written around the picture of a loon and two 8 pointed stars.

The seed list continues with a speech bubble from the loon saying "OF MINNESOTA!" The piece was made with canola, chia, quinoa, black lentil, wild rice, and yellow split peas - all but some of the wild rice were painted.
-
"Our Whimsy" by Stephanie MacDougall
The background is pastel turquoise in a pink frame. In the center are the words "They can't take away our WHIMSY". Around the border are a frog and butterflies, a unicorn, white clouds and pink bows, mushrooms, tea and cake, flowers, and singing geese.

The seed list shows fourteen crops used.

This piece was awarded a yellow ribbon for fifth place in its category.

Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.
Mother Jones

"In today's society, you know, everybody's filming everything, everybody has a cell phone," Glueck said. If an officer punches someone on camera, that can go viral in an instant; even a standard taser leaves puncture wounds. But "the glove is low optic, and it looks better on camera, and it looks better to those witnesses. With a glove, there are no burn marks or scars."But local police across the country are still eagerly buying the gloves—in large part so that they can harm people and avoid being sued for it. It's been successful "from the patrolmen to the jailers," Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said in a Compliant Technologies promotional video. "It's been a great tool as far as mitigating liability," according to Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall.
Bob Couey of the Floyd County Sheriff's Department sung the GLOVE's praises, too: "I highly recommend these gloves to anybody that's looking for a utility they can use that is conducive to not leading to lawsuits."

The state of being a pedestrian in the city is as dire as ever, I’m afraid. A driver was menacing me in the crosswalk, I made the universal gesture for “I’m walkin here”, and he literally stopped his car and screamed at me that if I weren’t so fat, I could walk faster. 1/2

I don't normally subscribe to the "German has a word for it" thing because all languages can invent and borrow new words! That said, I can't stop thinking about "hobbyless" as an insult since I saw it a few days ago, so here you go It promotes a growth mindset!! www.tumblr.com/abbiistabbii...
user abbiistabbii:
The Germans really cooked making "Hobbyless behaviour" an insult. It is both devastating, applicable to a wide range of people and behaviours, and doesn't resort to swearing.

Man ranting on the internet about the Superbowl halftime show or complaining that something is "woke"? Hobbyless Behaviour. Girls mocking another girl for not looking right? Hobbyless Behaviour. Mindless vandalism? Hobbyless Behaviour.

It is more powerful than "get a life" or the English "You're Sad" because it gets to the central point of the matter, and that is wonderful. Danke, Deutsch.
