Our built infrastructure robs kids of their freedom of independent mobility. Streets are dominated by oversized vehicles, piloted by aggressive and distracted drivers where one mistake can turn lethal. We sacrificed child development to subsidize the auto industry.

Seattle city council's District 5 has been held by pro-business backed candidates for a long time. Debora Juarez has held this seat on-and-off for nearly a decade. Cathy Moore won the seat in 2024, but resigned 18 months later. There is a special election *right now* to fill the seat until 2028.

But that's not how traffic in this area works. The continuous grid do exists, but only for buses, bikes and pedestrians. Many of the streets are either completely pedestrian or have modal filters and there are three short bus-only segments. They break and fragment the grid for cars.

We replaced the entire 520 floating bridge across Lake Washington, tore down the Alaskan Way Viaduct, bored, broke, dug out, fixed, continued boring a tunnel with the world's largest tunnel boring machine, and built an entire new waterfront during the entire time this has been held up by SEPA.

The govt handing over another $765 million in taxpayer dollars to companies to NOT build wind turbines, during an energy crisis, is bonkers. The total amount paid to cancel wind is now $2.5 billion dollars. About the same as DOE spends on all clean energy, transportation, & energy efficiency R&D.

When you add it all up, the collapse in immigration looks like this: a decline of roughly 50K for illegal (even including the people arrested and not released) and a decline of about 132K for legal. Over 70% of the cut in immigration has come from LEGAL immigration.

Federal agents cannot murder people in broad daylight and face zero consequences. I will NOT support the DHS bill as it stands. The DHS bill needs to be split off from the larger funding package before the Senate—Republicans must work with us to do that. I’ll keep fighting to rein in DHS and ICE.

I don’t even know how they could more forcefully assert that they don’t care about human lives — but ESPECIALLY don’t care about the lives of the poor and minorities most affected by industrial pollution — than to rewrite the cost-benefit calculations to explicitly set the value of those lives to 0.
