I used to just post about safe streets, but there's a lot going on right now. I'm worried about the climate, growing fascism, injustice, and my friends in Palestine. I want a kinder world.

By the time I finished high school, I knew 13. Half were athletes in a single bus crash, all others involved impaired driving. Add one fairly recent death of a colleague and 3 pals who survived incidents with traumatic injuries (one driver, one pedestrian, one cyclist).

Warnings start Oct 1 and will be followed by $$ tickets in January. I hope this means that all those kids waiting for the 77 bus that's stuck in traffic before Rt 16 are going to be able to get to school a lot faster.

It's September 24 and I already have my kids enrolled in summer camps for 4 weeks of next summer because now is when I was encouraged to register. When we lived in Greece, it was May before anyone started thinking of summer camps. Imagine.

Meh to all this news about Robert Kraft. I remember when he was arrested for soliciting prostitutes in FL, and basically released on a technicality. Gross. Why aren't we just boycotting concerts at Gillette? There are tons other performance spaces, including ones not so stupid far from Boston.

The amount of Amazon workers relying on SNAP and Medicaid has nearly tripled since 2020. — while Amazon’s annual profits soared by over 550%. It’s the same story everywhere: corporate profits are at record highs, while workers’ share of the economy is at a record low. We must unrig the system.

It always infuriates me when people react to congestion pricing by yelling about the "cost." Every time you drive you're paying — our entire society is paying. But the myriad costs of driving are just accepted as the default. As normal. I do hope we're starting to see a shift in that.

I think something really important about this is that private motor vehicles make everyone else "in the way." When I use active transport, I'm looking out for other people using active transport & they're (by & large) looking out for me. When I use public transport, we're all in it together.

1/ On my walk to work this morning I witnessed a near fatal incident when a super sized vehicle took a wide turn at high speed and nearly missed a woman crossing the street. She was of modest height & he may not have e seen her. She froze in fear & began to shake & cry.

In Germany, only trees move less than cars. On average, cars are moved for 45 minutes a day, if they are used to get to work, there are 1,075 people per car. That's less than the average number of birds per tree. I guess.

Happy 1st Day of School for Boston Public Schools! 1) If you see a stop sign, on a school bus or on the sidewalk, that means STOP. 🛑 2)If you’re an approaching a crosswalk, you slow down and make sure no one is crossing, and you definitely let pedestrian cross if they are waiting.
