the crazy thing was that I didn't particularly notice *not* being listened to pre transition. it was only once it started happening that I realized "woah, some people have just, always been treated this way." all of a sudden the half of my job that used to be "earn respect" got done automatically

I work in digital marketing and have often been on teams that are either all men or mostly men (idk if this is industry standard or just how things have worked out for me). I could distinctly tell when I started passing as male to my coworkers because all of a sudden they started listening to me

I remember the exact moment, early in my transition, working in Copenhagen, when I realized I was being perceived as a woman by my male coworkers. I realized it because they were interrupting and talking over me in meetings.

AGAIN! You do not need to fear "superintelligent AI" "going rogue" & killing humans, when HUMANS keep putting regular, everyday shitty-assed, extremely error-prone "AI" into potentially life-&-death-crucial systems. It does not have to be "powerful" to do that! It can do that & still be very shitty!

The cyber and info sec communities are looking at the recent AI news quite differently than the rest of us. Some are going back into work and telling their engineers "hey, remember how we said we'd get to that patch later...let's actually prioritize that."

In recent cases, it's not that AI somehow "escaped containment" or "went rogue." That's anthropomorphizing at best. It's more like if a Boston Dynamics robot dog nudged open an already open door and walked in.

I feel like i have the exact skillset needed to talk to LLMs because of 20+ years of talking to devs on the spectrum :D But lack of respect for UX as a ”hard skill” vs ”just an opinion” is also an obstacle. It’s hard to convince ppl of something they can’t see.

I don’t know, man—as a UX designer frequently constrained by what devs are willing to implement because they’re simply not that interested in visual detail, AI has been a godsend for simple-ish projects at least. I finally have access to the full toolkit without having to manage egos.
