(Not my usual Secretary of State, should that not be obvious by the gendered reference, but this is a case concerning Afghan nationals seeking resettlement - SSHD is an interested party)

Chamberlain J is Not Very Happy. At 34: "It is difficult to avoid the impression that the Secretary of State and his representatives in this case came to regard procedural directions as optional" www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWH...
The Secretary of State and his representatives repeatedly failed to give any notice to the other parties of their inability or unwillingness to comply with directions until after the relevant deadline has passed. They repeatedly applied for extensions of time supported by exiguous and unspecific reasons on form N244, with no accompanying witness statement. There is no evidence that they had any regard for the effect that their delay would have on the other parties or their representatives. They simply assumed that those other parties would have to modify their own working plans, irrespective of any other commitments, to fit the convenience or capacity of the Secretary of State's team.

Despite the accuracy failings in AI generated summaries, these tools have been rolled out to all asylum decision-makers. Not only is the error rate greater than previously reported, our investigation has found that these tools are being used without proper testing, quality assurance and training.

WHOA. This is big news. Mr. Soliman is a 31-year-old gay man from Egypt who came here at 3 with a green card. He lost his green card after a conviction, but an immigration judge found that he would be persecuted in Egypt and barred sending him there. He's locked in a hotel in Equatorial Guinea now.
A federal judge has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to return Ahmed Soliman to the United States, five months after he was expelled to Equatorial Guinea, a country where he has no ties, in a decision that could have far-reaching implications for thousands of others subjected to the Trump administration’s third-country removal scheme.

Arizona District Court Judge John C. Hinderaker, a Trump appointee, ruled that DHS violated the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment and “must facilitate Plaintiff’s release from custody in Equatorial Guinea and return to the United States and must ensure his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to Equatorial Guinea.”

Also quite misleading to say children will be exempt from the refugee tax. Yes a 5 year old won't be expected to pay but their parents will and that will still keep that child at destitution levels, taking vital earnings and benefits income from families.
