When Cyberpunk 2020 (tabletop) was released in the 90s, it was already a little late. The sub-textual meaning of the genre was already being drowned out by the commodified aesthetics. 2077 was fun, but kind of empty. The movie already exists anyway. Johnny Mnemonic. Keanu and all.

Probably burned my remaining bridges in the business, but I recently put out a statement regarding the increasing use of “generative AI” in British indie wrestling.

I’ve seen more and more promotions and wrestlers using generative AI, some of whom I work with, and I want to make something VERY clear:

I do not give anybody permission to use my likeness in any AI-generated posters, promos, clips, etcetera, and I consider any such use to be a personal and professional violation.

Do not feed me to a tech company’s algorithm. They’ve stolen enough of my writing and video material for their “AI training” already. That’s how Alleged Intelligence works, by the way - it’s a plagiarism tool, regurgitating every shred of “content” fed to it.

Leaving aside the horrific impact AI data centers have on the environment, you’re not creating anything by typing prompts into a box. Why should anyone be impressed with some cool photoshoot, promo, or move when you didn’t really do it? At best, Alleged Intelligence is self-insert reality fanfic and it makes wrestling truly live up to its reputation as fake.

I won’t try to sway you away from it, but I hope you reconsider and really look into AI. Whatever you do, leave me out of it.

The show took the moments from the book that were supposed to imply that Daenerys might have a sadistic, inhumane streak to her, and played them off as "THIS IS SO BADASS". The hypothetical trans girl who's supposedly causing all this trouble in the WNBA is the perfect tool for the conservative movement. She can't fight back, she can't disprove anyone's assumptions, and she can't garner sympathy when she's the target of hate. The perfect trans girl is the one who only exists in the imagination of the loudest cis people. Her monstrousness, the need to "protect young girls in a locker room" from her, gives them permission to enact policies that in reality only harm the anonymous girls, cis and trans, who want to play sports without the invasive scrutiny of gender-obsessed adults.

I love how tech companies are allow to change agreements. "We're making changes to our agreements" and you have to agree OR stop using all the tech that you paid for and has all your info and files etc. Also subscriptions instead of owning things. Adobe locked people in, now costs 700+ each year.
