pet peeve of mine that you see in all sorts of contexts: posing questions that "need to be answered" that have been answered many times. this just mires the debate in an endless loop where one side has to argue and the other just asks the same questions over and over.

Today, we're announcing a new legal leadership pipeline to help shape law, policy, and economic power. @peoplesparity.bsky.social's staff, network, and programming will be integrated into Roosevelt this fall and winter, carrying PPP's mission forward inside the Roosevelt Society.
Photo of Elizabeth Wilkins, President and CEO of the Roosevelt Institute, smiling in black glasses, a purple jacket, and a white blouse against a dark gray background. Text: “Bringing this legal network into the Roosevelt Society allows us to build that capacity in a profession that has enormous influence over how rules shape people’s lives and what government can do to serve the public. Together, we hope to develop a generation of lawyers who understand how we can reshape law to work for the many rather than the few. That is a critical part of preparing for the next pro-democracy governing moment.”Photo of Molly Coleman, Co-Founder of People’s Parity Project (PPP), smiling with her arms crossed, wearing a black turtleneck and gold earrings, standing against a light blue wall. Text: “We founded PPP on a simple belief: practicing law is never neutral. Every lawyer and judge is making choices about whose interests the system serves, and they should answer for those choices to the public, not just to each other.”

There's a lot of sorta sanitized 'School House Rock' to Marbury v. Madison, which the legal academy and jurists themselves have adopted One of the myths of Marbury was that it _contemporaneously_ had a wide & noticed impact, when in fact it was buried and overlooked for ~80+ years

One thing I remember and hardly anyone seems to is that there's a sort of sexual revolution interregnum when all sex was good (seen from the adult male perspective, which it mostly was) including sex with children, which was publicly defended. Feminism, mostly, is what changed that.

What if education were something we built in community rather than a product handed down to us? We’re building community around the idea that learning can be a practice of democracy, inclusion, and solidarity. Any support is appreciated as we get off the ground! bankingcrowded.com/collect-hub/...
Image from the Foxfire Homeschool Cooperative website featuring a logo of a fox made up of mycelia over the name of the organization. Underneath it says "Raising Curious Kids, Building Healthy Community." All of this is over a dark background featuring mushrooms glowing with foxfire.Clip from the website with the heading "When the conditions are right." Underneath, it says "The quiet glow known as foxfire appears only when the conditions are right. We believe meaningful communities grow the same way. Healthy ecosystems are built through countless relationships, each contributing to something larger than itself. Foxfire strives to cultivate those same conditions for learning, belonging, and community."Clip from the website reading "Healthy communities don't happen by accident. They're building through commitment shared by the people who care for them. Every family has different gifts, different capacities, and different seasons of life. A cooperative works best when people contribute where they can make the greatest impact. No one is expected to do everything, but everyone plays a part in helping Foxfire grow."Clip reading "Like any living thing, Foxfire is always evolving because the people who make up our community are always evolving too. As children grow, families discover new interests, and fresh ideas take root, so do new classes, traditions, and opportunities to learn together. The result is a community that's always growing, always learning, and never standing still."
