I don’t think I’ve seen anyone say this very true thing, obvious to many, out loud. My own childhood left me hypervigilant in adulthood of how our community treats children and of what we *pretend* (mistakenly) won’t leave a mark on kids (physically/emotionally). It is cultural; we *pretend* not.

Some people want to end oppression for all people. Some people claim to want to end oppression for all people, but turn out to be cruel/cliquey/bullying in ways that seem more like they just covet the oppressors' place in society (thinking they'd ostensibly do a better job of it).
