Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.

Getting tired of untested vibecoded ports that are just buggy and because no experienced coders are around, they can't fix it? Never fear, as I have listed decomps and recomps done by actual people and it will continue expanding! If you know any, lemme know!

#Caturday
Meme by Cat Named Pepper. Reasons my cat rejected his food today. 1. You looked at me while I was eating. 2. Ate this yesterday. We've moved on. 3. Served in the wrong bowl. 4. I wanted wet food, but you should have known that. 5. Smelled it, decided it's suspicious. 6. I saw a crumb outside the bowl. 7. The bag crinkled way too aggressively.

I think what I resent the most is that all of us, especially the women who worked with him, were a part of his rehabilitation (at least image-wise) without us ever getting to choose if that was something we wanted to participate in. He didn't let us or his audience make a choice. How ironic.

I would advise people not to talk to USA Today for any reason, about anything ever, based on this thread. It's bad enough that the whole profession is circling the drain, but for a remaining publication to feed interviews into a slopifier without telling sources? When it's about SA? I just.. 🌋

The Phantom of Heilbronn, also referred to as the Woman Without a Face, was a presumed female serial killer whose existence was inferred from DNA evidence found at 40 crime scenes across Austria, France and Germany from 1993 to 2009.

In March 2009, investigators concluded that the supposed serial killer did not exist, and the DNA belonged to a woman who worked at a factory that made the cotton swabs used for collecting DNA samples

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

The thing about the death penalty has always been that it relies on an infallibility — after all, there's no reversing the punishment once administered — that no state in human civilization has ever achieved. But now there's another, rhyming problem: the state can't even properly administer it.

there are moral arguments against the death penalty in its ideal form but in real life you never need to get there. the prior question is "can the state be trusted to end the life only of the rightly convicted without torture?" and the answer is no

The death penalty is a moral abomination. State-sanctioned barbarism pushed by incompetent morons and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Absolute ghoul shit. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
The lone woman on Tennessee's death row was still alive after she was administered two lethal injections, her lawyer said in a motion seeking to halt her execution Wednesday night, a stunning development after the Supreme Court had stepped in to allow the state to put her to death.
At 8:26 p.m. local time, witnesses said
"executioners had injected both syringes of lethal injection chemicals and Pike is still alive and snoring," her lawyers said in a federal court filing.
They said Pike "has not lost consciousness and still has a heartbeat," and that curtains to the death chamber "have gone down twice."

LRP: to people saying "well i'm anti-death penalty but she was actually guilty and her crime was terrible". like are you? if you are only opposed to it in cases where the crime wasn't that bad or the person might not have done it, you are not actually opposed to it in any meaningful way

Umamusume screenshot of Seiun Sky on my homescreen, which is somewhat unseasonably decorated for Christmas due to the Christmas-themed event that just started (fyi Global Uma is on an accelerated release schedule so these things won't coincide with real life until we catch up to Japan in like four years)

anyway Sky is saying "Be careful of getting heatstroke in summer! We need to stay inside and laze around!", which is appropriate neither for the event schedule nor real life

crying. she costs $0
screenshot from Umamusume of someone's G rank Yamanin Zephyr on their Dream Team PVP event roster. she costs 0 scout points to recruit and has the Eccentric epithet, meaning she didn't do any training before her debut race (and probably none after it either)her stat screen. all of her stats are G and her score is 24. one of her parents is the generic F rank Daiwa you get when you first start the game, and the other is an A-rank Grass Wonder. She did manage to inherit a medium spark which bumped her to S though.

the deck used was entirely Rs, 3 Sp/1 Wit/2 Guts. she ran 16 races and won 2

not pictured is her race record: the run was done on MANT and her final race was the Japan Derbybesides her ult, the only "skills" she has are two debuffs from losing so many races, Right Handed x and G1 Averseness

Dabbling Wordsmith
Talented Writer <V Rusty>
Grand Master Poet
Dabbling Reader
Legendary Speaker
Dabbling Musician
Dabbling Singer

he also has a number of poems memorizedDescription of The Pulpy. He's a humanoid with black downy feathers and three curled tails, and was created by a dwarven necromancer after experiments on a goblin about two hundred years ago.a description of The Pulpy's personality:

He is clumsy.

He has a great memory, very good intuition and a good intellect, but he has an iffy sense for music, quite poor focus and a large deficit of willpower.

He personally would have the world operate in complete harmony without the least bit of strife or disorder (due to seeing the elf Rathe Rainysearched die in 252), sees concealment of emotions as a betrayal and tries his best never to associate with such secretive fools (due to being caught in a snow storm in 252), greatly respects individuals that persevere through their trials and labors, finds the following of tradition foolish and limiting, respects commerce and finds the pursuit of skill mastery off-putting.

He has an incredibly calm demeanor, after suffering a major injury in 255. He never acts without prolonged deliberation, even to his own detriment and the harm of those around him, after seeing the elf Rathe Rainysearched die in 252. He is very rarely moved by curiosity. He is confident under pressure, after being caught in a snow storm in 252. He is very stubborn. He tends to avoid any physical confrontations. He tends to consider what others think of him. He is brave in the face of imminent danger. He tends to make a small mess with his own possessions. He has a tendency to go it alone, without considering the advice of others. He generally finds himself quite hopeful about the future. He tends to be a bit stubborn in changing his mind about things. He tends to be a little wasteful when working on projects. He lives a fast-paced life. He does not mind being outdoors, at least for a time. He doesn't really care about anything anymore.

There have been two occasions in my career where I had to go to war with teammates against mistaken understandings of probability. In both cases, it was because people expected large numbers of d6s to occasionally result in maximum damage. But the curves for 3d6 and 15d6 (e.g.) look like this:
Two curves showing the distribution of results across 3d6 and 15d6. At the extreme ends of the first, 3 and 18 are both 0.46% likely. On the second curve, the extremes are 15 and 90 damage, but the probability drops below 0.00% below 29 and above 76.
