I noticed. It was hard not to. Game magazines, the internet, and Stanley the 13 year old from down the street who traded his N64 for a PSX, made fun of me for still having an N64, and still magically wanted to hang out when there was a new N64 game he wanted to play all never shut up about them. :V

I did several years ago, and you're sort of right... I wouldn't say *100* times better. Maybe like 60-80. Unless we're talking about Frontiers with a cheat to enable the spin dash from the beginning, in which case Heroes' advantage drastic goes down.

Man, I have built WAY too much of my life, career, and relationships around Sonic if I /don't/ like him. My wife mentioned him in our wedding vows (I specifically decided I wouldn't do that and then she did it for me), and we got married on the anniversary of the day he was revealed for Smash Bros.

Realized how funny/real it is that I can go to multiple Sonic concerts and events with thousands of attendees and never be recognized as someone who worked on the Shadow Gens OST, but one time I went to Raising Canes Chicken Fingers and the guy taking my order did.

One of my dad's biggest passions was genealogy. He gave me backups to this massive Family Tree file he'd been working on since the mid-90s, and finding this was kinda funny. The last time Dad updated this would've been well before this guy was famous.

Which is TOTALLY FINE by the way, the whole reason I *do* like both branches existing is because they appeal to very distinct aspects of my own fandom, so it's not hard to see why someone might strongly prefer one over the other.

But if you only like modern, then you'll feel that whatever resources are put into any given classic project would be better spent on a spiritual successor to Advance, or Rush, and you might resent the fact that you're not getting that.

I remember well when Modern Sonic was treated exactly, and I mean *EXACTLY* the same way. To hear the fandom circa 2010 tell it, green-eyed Sonic was a pandering abomination that had no purpose, aura, or SOUL. They hoped that Generations would end by retconning everything that happened after S3&K.

So when I see someone seriously raging about Classic Sonic in a similar way, I just figure they're a younger fan going through the same thing, and they'll grow out of it sooner or later. Hopefully by the time the series' focus shifts AGAIN and starts catering to people even younger than they are. :V

Doubtful, because in 2007 I really *didn't* have anyone else to play with. I dunno! I liked the Pokémon more, liked the aesthetic more, *really* appreciated all the helpful ways they found to use the DS - I still maintain the two-screen format is the best system Pokémon's ever had...
