CA prop 38 is a scam - vote NO. For example see: This CA proposition will send $4 billion to a single nonprofit. Who’s behind it? calmatters.org/politics/ele...

Is this proposition a $4 billion giveaway to a billionaire’s LA research center?
Proposition 38 will award $4 billion to one unnamed research center. Under the very specific criteria, only one center seemingly qualifies.

I generally don't think "citizens advisory boards" do a lot, but it's fun that SamTrans is so poorly run *and* its CAC members are writing the ballot arguments against Proposition RTM (emergency transit revenue measure).

What is the point of this grandstanding about "slowing" AI progress? China's not slowing progress. If anyone actually believes this is an issue outside the freaks at Anthropic, maybe the government could do something practical like invest in cybersecurity instead?

I realize SF built the new Skyline Watershed Ridge Trail, but it feels very Atherton/Woodside coded to dedicate a third of the parking lot for horse trailers.
Looking back down a trailhead at a parking lot. There's an informational panel in front and the left third of the parking lot is empty (dedicated horse trailer parking).

There's some really interesting stuff going on here, however the first example is "identifying a virus" and the humans host depleted and searched the remaining contigs and the AI just de-novo assembled everything and managed to pick out an ebola sequence from that (not the most scalable!)
